Hi there

I got a job in the far east and for an airline. i am not married but getting my gf flight perks (discounted fares), we have to be married. although we are few years away from that, i wanted to know if there is any way around this process? for example, if we are to "get married" for papers, and if for example we seperate, do we need a divorce lawyer?

just trying to figure this process out..thanks

Um.....

DON'T GET MARRIED FOR A FLIGHT DISCOUNT!!!!!!!!

There. That's easy isn't it. And don't try to scam your work place either. You think you are the first to try? They will know all the scams. And you can tell your GF the same thing as well. If she loves she will understand and prefer you stay in good standing with your employer.

There is a way around it, persuade the airline it's the same cost to them and gives them the same happy employee benefit the perk was established to do. Making sure perks are fair is one of the things unions do, ask yours for help.

I don't know what your 'document attested' title was meant to tell us, but once you have a valid certificate of marriage, you're as married as can be. And yes, you will need a divorce lawyer to get un-married. If you can establish that you and your GF have commonly presented yourselves as husband and wife over an extended period, you can legitimately claim a common-law marriage relationship that might satisfy your employer. But once you say you're common-law spouses, you again have taken on more difficulties if you want to un-spouse.

Ask your workplace about their rules on common law partner. A lot of countries considered common law partner equal to a spouse. Montreal for e.g. under its Neapolitan law considers common law partner equal to a spouse, if you have been living together at the same address for more than 2 years.
