Do you think its wrong to change prices?

I threw out a number about 6 months ago for Greek. It was a big number because I don't really like offering it especially to people who are inexperienced.

Someone today wanted to take me upbon the offer at the inflated price... but they're confused or offended or something that im giving them a deal and its cheaper.

My rates for Greek change depending on my mood. If im not feeling it, I hike up the price so there are no takers and if im kind of feeling like it might be a good experience I'll lower it.

If I dont feel like teaching people how to do it that day and being poked and prodded and hurt I charge a rate no one will pay and if I feel like it that day, I make it more affordable.

Is that not what everyone does?

I joke that the rates for greek depend on my mood

This is just lighthearted discussion. Relax.

*its also not that I dont enjoy it. I just have to be in the mood for it*

Is there a better way to say it?

You do you and you set the rates you want.
But it is also reasonable for the clients to expect consistency.
So if you want to appear consistent, maybe take greek off the menu in your ad when you are not feeling it.
Or only offer it to regulars who you know on days you are feeling it and keep it off the menu entirely.

From a client perspective we want consistency. If I contact an sp one week and ask for Greek and she gives me an amount I would expect that amount to be the same a week later or even a month later. Now when it comes to regular hourly rates i fully understand those increase as time goes on for all sorts of reasons and that is respectable but for specific service requests I would expect some consistency in pricing. From the sounds of it Greek is something you may not be that fond of or enjoy all that much? If thats the case dont ever feel forced to offer it no matter the price. It probably won't be that pleasant for you or the client so it's a loose loose.

That makes sense. I was confused why he seemed so confused that I was giving him a deal. I joked that he could pay the price I told him six months ago but what I generally charge is a different amount.

I was feeling it today.

I don't really hate it, but I hate committing to it and then meeting the person and they're really bad at it and they don't take direction well.

I always like to meet people first and see if they're a good fit.

I DO offer it but I dont want to offer it everyone so I might just have a not-so-secret menu for my regs 😅

That's understandable. Greek does take some time to get good at from a male perspective and getting direction is a wonderful thing especially when your not really sure what your doing😅

La la land
Clients prefer pricing consistency. And how you set your pricing is up to you. To take the pressure off you regarding Greek just say in your ads Greek available to established clients only.

LTO_3
"After 5 times that they have seen you, you can offer it. "
My above statement is an example to @LTO_3.
As mentioned this way you get the feel of clients and you could offer it but only to guys who have done it before. IF the client says 'yes I have done it before'. THEN ask him to give you instructions how to do it. This way you vetted him out to see if he is all talk or know how to really do it and get his hands dirty.

Talk is cheap and actions tells the truth. This way you remove the riff raff from the serious folks.

Not wrong but maybe confusing. And just to add to that .. my perspective on the matter at hand.

It is something that does feel good, but have to trust in the guy a lot to not hurt you. I am on the fence with this as well.

I figure I will say no, if someone really wants it I will tell the the price with the caveat ... it may or may not happen. If I am into it and I feel it would be nice, then great, lets do it. Last guy I had accepted $250USD. If you have to have Greek, just by the fact you are booking, then please book someone else.

PS I do like the idea of the price range $100-300.

You could mention that greek is not available on the first date? And at your discretion after that. And rates given when asked, or you could display a range on your website, e.g. "100-300$"?
IMHO, the price range for a specific service is even more confusing than changing the price. What will you tell the client if he asks what the price depends on? And how will you not offend the client whom you want to charge the price at the upper range of your interval? IMHO, set the fixed price, but offer it only when you want to and to whom you want to.
