Do you think it's wrong that Mayor Ford was not at the Pride Flag raising ?

In other words a bigotted, hot tempered, fatty with no self control is not someone that I would have voted for. But alas I don't live in Toronto.
His main opponent was George Smitherman.

People who do live in the city had a moral obligation to do everything they could to prevent Smitherman from bringing his record of disaster to the mayor's office.

Voting for Ford was the only way to stop Smitherman. It was the right thing to do.

I'm sincerely ashamed on behalf of those who partake in this world who feel entitled to judge the gay population.

What makes me sick about Ford not supporting pride is the divisiveness he's created. suddenly people feel entitled to make moral arguments defending Ford's absense. HES THE FAKING MAYOR PEOPLE.....Shame on those who are hiding behind Ford's bigotry to justify your own. I have No respect for it..

Jen...ford says nothing....the media , like us , like to hype it up.

He is not devisive. .... He is just not into naked drunken debauchery at the parade.

The rest of us trying to figure him out create divisiveness. Not Mr Ford.

Figure him out. His message is pretty clear. He is not comfortable with gays.

Too general Frank. He made no comment On disliking gays.

I had gay relatives. Am fine with gay marriage. Work with gay people. Find gay people as normal as other people.

I just don't enjoy the uncomfortable and stupid drunken naked debauchery that is called a 'parade'

eHealth, "green energy" act causing hydro rates to skyrocket..

I think he'd have made a better mayor than Ford, though.

His DUI and posession charges don't exactly portray him to be an individual who has a problem with intoxicated debauchery....

You're right I can't be 100% certain but neither can you.

I will say that choosing to skip pride twice in a row citing the cottage is pretty lame.

And the pride parade itself is not as bad as you make it out to be. But if it was the drunken debauchery then just say so. Problem is that given his weight I'm sure he's had a few beers in his time.

DUI. Has really nothing to do with the parade.

Its easy folks...like many people, including me, ford is embarrassed and turned off by excess and
loud nudity that is the parade.

I get it.

Amd by the way...

Is it really a ' parade'...

Or a bunch of people walking down the street?

Well, I think there's a difference between (passively) accepting something, and being a willing participant.
(BTW: Odd response to moviefan-2's message. I wonder if you're reading things into it that weren't there..)

I think it's fair to say that there are some things you may see in the pride parade - or, at least the impression of such - that would make some people feel uncomfortable. And I think it's fair to allow people to choose not to attend if they'd feel uncomfortable doing so. (Aside: I looked it up. The erotic wrestling is between two guys. :frusty: I'll pass!!)

That said, Ford should, however, at least make the effort to attend at least one event during pride week.

You can't say that. You have no idea if he is embarrassed or turned off.

And people walking, plus costumes, plus floats, plus music..... sounds like a parade to me

Frank. We are not talking about pride week...we are talking about a leud parade the mayor does not want to witness.

Great point. If it is comfort level find a tamer event to show his support.

Fine then find another way to "make an appearance" if the parade itself is too much. Surely there is something he could attend.
