"Yes" for some.
"Only to wave" for others.
"No" to the rest of them.

I live in a private, gated community. I know exactly who my neighbors are, but don't have any interest in getting to know them. Privacy is exceptional, and there's sufficient distances and barriers between private residences to ensure I rarely need to interact with them unless I choose to. We like it that way.

I've lived here for over 6 years, raised kids here, and it is a small busybody type community, I know them better than I ever wanted to! I do not SP from home so there has never been as issue with that, and I am single so if the odd man picks me up they assume it is just a new boyfriend.

My neighbourhood is so closely knit that almost all of us have been in each others homes at some point or another. It drives me crazy when someone "new" tries to convince me to see them at my place.

Hotels and motels are better... Unless you decide you can finalize a singular location.

No "disparate housewives" in my neighborhood.

I do know some of my neighbors by sight and we would exchange pleasantries without getting personal.

Anything ever happen with your neighbour who you thought was an escort?
I still don't know for sure if she is an escort. But I still overhear her (the walls are somewhat thin; you can hear some things, but not everything) greeting men at her door in the evenings.

I live in a small town where everybody knows everybody. I went to the garage to take my car in this week and it is the first time I have been there in 8 months and she knows my name and phone number and car from the last time.
I go to Mac's Milk and as soon as I walk in the cashier tells me that Coke is on sale again, knowing that it is a regular purchase.
I walked to work yesterday because my car was in the shop and was offered a ride by no less than ten people whether they worked there or not.
At the local diner I get free breakfast on my birthday, and they do not need to be reminded, in fact they anticipate my visit.

There are positives and negatives of being known by an entire town, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

Just like that TV show "Cheers" where everybody knows you name. sometimes I just like to go to a bar incognito and not have to exchange pleasantries with anybody. Me, my beer and my own space.

As in any neighbourhood. You know some by sight, and wave to when going by. Others you have conversations with, but not really any social time. Others you end up seeing on social time routing homes for the gathering, that night. I can count at least, 6 close neighbours, you would enjoy if they were escorts. lol. I am sure a few of the Sp's would also enjoy their husband's. But no Peyton Place, just good neighbours, as friends. :p

I've lived in the same apartment for more the 12 years and don't know the people on either side or across the hall. And have no intention of ever introducing myself.

Nice new photographs Miss Jessica Lee! However, what kind of country woman are you climbing (sitting) in the middle of the fence rather than at the posts. :biggrin1:

theres a transition going on in our hood right now...it was an older established area..lots of empty nesters...finally they are moving out and a younger demographic is moving in...younger kids...dogs cats and so on..
A family just moved in across the street..I said hello 1 day as I was walking the dogs...and 2 late teen early 20-ish girls come out of the house to greet the dogs...
1 looked very familiar...BP Ad?..but I'm probably wrong but they were both friendly and chatty...and built!!!

They probably just saw your picture either at the Post Office, or on the cover of Prodigious Pooners Weekly!
