I know you know the kind of PC you can build is probably about 1/5th the cost of an iMac, it's crazy how marketing a shiny object will influence people.
As for that youtuber being a clickbaiter, how so? He repairs Macbooks specifically for a living, I notice you didn't address him saying why the design is so poor.

As for after market and the Macbook holding it's value, it's simple, the hype, the logo, it's definitely nothing to do with the hardware.
Even today the iMac has a 5400rpm harddrive, TODAY, 2019! lol It's absolutely laughable, even you have to admit it.

SSD prices are coming down, this is just gouging people and people like yourself will defend it? Really?

But build quality, sucks as per Louis Rossman.
I already addressed the design. Nobody buys a computer for the circuitry. You don't walk into best buy and says "Can I see the circuit board design?". The buyer is an end-user, not a repairman.

You don't have to buy the HDD. Upgrade to the SSD........Already know what you will say. What you don't understand is this will operate like day 1 new for several years. That's the value in it.

You can cry all you want, but at some point you will have to admit it lives up to the hype.

I'm using a family members laptop right now (acer) and I don't know how any of you can defend this.

I'm removing an anti-virus software so that I can add an anti-virus software. Really??? LOL
I will buy an new acer if a need a quick computer I can throw out when finished with it. Like a temp to use for a day. They are useless after a month.

Still confused every time this comes up.

I have been using second hand refurbished windows systems for years and for the most part all is well. They work remarkably well. I am typing on an old ThinkPad x100e. Amazing. I dumped ubuntu into an old Samsung laptop and it works great (that laptop is at least 10 years old). But,

I am currently in the market for a smart phone and just returned from the Apple store. Fuck they are nice. Ridiculous price, granted. But I want one! I am tempted, but I do not want to enter their ecosystem. Nevertheless, I am not tech literate so I hesitate to get an android. Sounds like no one can really help me. Just make the plunge either way and pray.

I have a 2011 27" iMac with a second monitor that still works well for photography. I upgraded the RAM my self, and when the HD started to fail, I had a Apple certified private company replace the drive. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro. When the HD became to small, I opened it up and put in a 2 T Firecuda hybred drive, and while the case was open replaced the RAM with 16 gig.. What I don't like about the new MacBook pro's are the lack of ports, especially a USB A/B port.

Overall, I take very little into Apple for repair. If I need something, I take it to a private shop. I can't stand Apple stores and the attitude that they have. Everything in the Apple store seems to be way over priced.

Used MS at work for 20 years with all kinds of changes to models and OSs. Universally terrible experience. Used Apple at home from mid 90s and had a universally good experience...except now I am looking at things like my iTunes library and thinking they really have me by the short and curlies. Early models were very robust with an iPod working fine after 10 years but my MacBook is now struggling a bit after 5. I think the quality is coming down a bit.

Likely due to your battery. Had the same thing happen and found out my battery was expanding and in poor condition. When the system detects battery degradation it throttles down your system to keep the heat down which in turn affects the performance significantly.

Solution replace or remove battery completely. The apple store guys have a way of checking your battery health.

Wow apple killed it in new WWDC 2019.

Killer mac pro announced with insane specs with up to 28 cores Xeon processor, up to 1.5 TB of RAM memory and ability install to two Radeon Pro Vega II GPUs. They also announced a 32 inch 6k XDR display. Although not for the cheepos but really nice specs.

Also really cool features in ios 13 like sharing your music with other people through their wireless ear pods/beats products simultaneously.

To qualify my bias I currently use a gaming PC with GTX 1080 and have a 2011 macbook pro. I started off with iphones, switched to a couple android devices like some Samsung and google smartphones and now am back to Apple smartphones. I find their system very intuitive and just works right like an extension of my mind whenever I need to do something trivial.

IMO for video and photo editing the MacOS is far superior to PC. I invested in Final Cut Pro X and have tried many other video editors prior and none come close to FCP X based on ease of use, efficiency, and features. Therefore I will most likely get the newest MacBook pro to compliment.

In terms of gaming I still feel PCs are the best and I plan on sticking with my current PC for this purpose and general use.

Recently I purchased the apple air pods 2 and the new power beats pro which are both amazing wireless earbuds and far superior than anything else I tried which includes other boss products, jabra wireless ones, and the Sony WH 1000XM3.

So both systems have their advantages and disadvantages and depend on preferences and how you plan on using them.

Why would anyone on a forum care what computer system someone else uses? Isn’t Canada a democracy?
I was thinking the same thing. It always strikes me as a little odd that some people make it their mission to tell people why their choices don't pass muster. The market place will always decide who (or what product) will be successful. When I walk by the Apple store, there's always a crowd, and judging by the number of staff on hand, I'm guessing that they have the sales to match.

If you've ever worked in sales & marketing, you know the kiss of death is when you tell a client that they don't know what they're talking about. It's like saying that you're too stupid/uninformed to understand the obvious superiority of my product. Never a good strategy. The consumer will always decide who offers the preferred product and right now, Apple seems to be doing fine.

I know I'll buy another Apple iPhone. I know I'll buy another Lenovo Workstation-grade laptop. Both help me make money.

The real question is: Do I go back to PC to play games? Or do I go console? I currently have a PS4 which I really don't play... I don't play many video games, but I tell myself I want to (Elite Dangerous and BF5 stay dormant).

As much as I agree with you here, I'm thinking that you qre going to get a lot of blowback from those who believe that you just aren't cool if you don't use the current "tecky approved" device. It kinda' supports their superior belief that if you don't have the right hardware, you just don't get it. For me, I'll use what I like and what I'm comfortable with, despite my nephew's condescending attitude about his gear...
