Here's my ghost story, not much of a story, but here it goes.

It was the mid night shift years ago, I was alone in the building

There was a coffee machine over by the staircase on the second floor. I went to get some hot chocolate or something.

Since this was the over night shift, I am half asleep and tired.

The doors to the stairwell, are the usual ones close itself automatically. Those were metal, and had a glass window about 12"x8" a small one.

I opened the door from the stairwell, to get something to drink, and as it was closing, I saw a reflection in the window, THAT kind of looked like someone behind, a young man, white kid, blue shirt on.

I looked behind me because I thought I was alone in the building. Of course, there is no one there.

Strange. I knew I saw a reflection of something in the glass, it was a person, but did not see a face, and he should have been about 10 to 15 feet behind me, but nothing was there.

I thought, can't be a ghost, what would they want with me, especially a white one.

So what did I do next? I spent the next minutes opening the door, and looking at it from every angle to see if I could reproduce that reflection. I could not reproduce in any way a form that resembled the shape I saw, and I could not reproduce the colour blue.

After realizing I could not reproduce that reflection in the glass, by looking at it from different angles and opening and closing the door for at least 10 minutes, what did I do next? I thought:- "Meh, I am getting my cocoa and going back to work, who cares. If they want a piece of me, they can find me later. They already know where I am." I went back to work. That's my story.

Other people have told me in person far more interesting ghost stories. But at night, I don't like talking about ghosts.

I'm amazed at how many here do believe in ghosts/spirits. I've spent too much time with various native communities around the world not to. There are just too many experience/times when you think there is just something going that life as we know it can't explain. My first experience was during a visit to an ancestral homestead in Scotland in 1972 and all at once, while walking the grounds, I had memories flashing through my mind that I had no reason to have regarding people events and things connected to the property. My connection were confirmed sitting down and discussing my experiences with elders in the town. Since then I've been open to what others say about similar experience. The simplest form is deja vu. I'll bet just as many members have experienced that phenomenon.

I love hearing about the paranormal and the occult. I've never had a paranormal experience myself but it is something I am fascinated in for sure. I've heard quite a few stories. My Uncle would often to go to cemetery to put flowers on my grandmother's grave. He was out late one night and and he what looked like a silohuette of a woman dressed like she was from the early 19th century He went deeper into the cemetery to investigate but she had vanished. He hasn't come back to the cemetery since. Another family friend insisted to my mom she had seen the ghost of her dead husband in their house very shortly after he died she was so spooked by it she quickly moved in with her daughter because she refuses to live alone.

I was at a seminar about paranormal activity, held in the auditorium of the university.
The speaker, Dr. Peter Venckman, started off by surveying the audience.
First, he asked that all those who believe in ghost to raise their hands. About 95% of the crowd did so.
Next, he asked if anyone ever saw a ghost, and about 50% of the people raised their hands again.
Then, he asked if anyone ever had any physical encounters with a ghost, and about 25% of the hands went up.
Finally, he asked is anyone ever had any sexual encounters with a ghost. Only 1 hand went up, way wayyyyy in the back of the room.
So, Dr Venckman askes this person to come up on stage, and here comes this wrinkled, grizzled old Scotsman.
Dr Venckman asks the man "Sir, is it true that you believe in ghosts, have seen ghosts, have had contact with ghosts, and also have made sweet, sweet love with a ghost?"
The Scotsman is taken aback and replies: "Ghosts? I thought you said GOATS!!"
lmao, good one

I don't believe trees have a soul but there could be a lingering life force. Plants do not have a nervous system. Is the soul associated with that?
I thought that someone had hooked up a lie detector and found that they respond to different external stimuli. However the central nervous system is more an electrical communication network feeding external sensors (touch, heat, cool) & internal sensors (pain) to the brain for processing. If the 'soul' - the memories, patterns and mental processes continued outside the brain through some unknown non-dissipating energy field - we would not see, touch, hear or taste ... so get the sex now !

I don't think it's any coincidence that ghosts activities seem to peak when the brain is fatigued and most senses have nothing to report. I found when I was working late shift that I could hear many events that are usually overwhelmed by the routine noises of daytime activities.

I have always wanted to believe in ghosts though I have never had any experience with them.

My best friend at work is that guy who is honest to a fault. We have worked together for ten years and I have never known him to tell any type of lie. Large or small. Bottom line, I believe this guy because he simply not the type to lie.

He comes into work one day and tells me what happened the night before. His cousin Johnny and his fiancé had previously purchased an old home in Leslieville. It was a true 'fixer upper'. Johnny has a pretty good job and he gutted the place and re-built it. Well that previous evening was the day that all work was finally completed on the place and Johnny was moving in before the wedding that was taking place in the coming month. So my colleague is being shown around the house. My colleague had brought his yellow Labrador with him. When they got to the top of the stairs to the basement the dog stood up there and whined and would not come down. My colleague and Johnny tried to coax him but he would not budge. They went down in the basement and Johnny showed my colleague how it had been and earthen cellar but they had it completely finished into what had the makings of a pretty solid man cave. Maverick ( the dog ) had at this point come down the stairs but he stood at the bottom and was skulking ( crouching down with his belly low ) and whining loudly while facing into the basement. He began to growl and show his teeth. My colleague said he had never seen the dog as aggressive as he was then. He had him since he was an 8 week old puppy , he was now 7 and in all of the time he had never seen him look or sound as ferocious as he was. They turned to walk back across the basement to the stairs and the dog. In the middle of the basement floor was a rocking chair. Johnny and my colleague observed the rocking chair rocking slightly. Not swinging wildly but moving about 6 inches either way. They stopped , looked at each other and continued to watch. The dog was staring directly at the chair. The chair stopped rocking and the dog's head and body turned and moved as if following something or someone. The chair had stopped moving completely. Johnny and my colleague moved towards the stairs slowly. When they reached the stairs they looked back and the chair shuffled sideways about 3-4 inches. They went upstairs and walked outside onto the front walkway. Johnny said to my colleague that he had to promise that he would NEVER tell his fiancé. Apparently she is an old school Italian Roman Catholic and she would simply not live in the house if it was haunted. My colleague swore he would not. Fast forward to the week after the wedding when the now wife moved into the house. One Friday night Johnny and the wife are sitting on the porch having a glass of wine. The wife suddenly bursts into tears and says that she knows he is going to think she is having trouble adjusting to married life but she says she hates the house. Johnny asks why. She says "It feels creepy and evil. I don't know why but the place just scares me".

Well , they are still there and her family teases her about the fact she doesn't like the place. She has put crosses over almost every doorway and threshold , over their bed. She is clearly uncomfortable and has asked Johnny if they can find a place closer to her parents.

Nothing else has happened but clearly there is something going on in that house. I told my colleague that Johnny should do research and find out what may have gone down there. Johnny said no way. I'd rather not know.

I really believe my colleague. That place is haunted!

Researchers have a theory that stress and fear will cause people to feel a presence. High electro magnetic activity and some structures such as castles that can alter natural electro magnetic activity can also bring on hallucinations and feelings of presences.

Stress and fear can do much more than that. It's not much of a revelation.
