Don't get me wrong. I won't be voting for him. But I won't kick him when he's down either.Civic leadership is not the place for an active alcoholic and drug user. What happens to drug addicts and alcoholics in the private sector is neither here nor there. Joe Blow at your dad's company isn't the head of a government. It's interesting how lovey-dovey and oh-so-compassionate you feel towards Ford. I truly wonder what you would be saying if Ford came from the left? You were probably one of the people harping about Smitherman's past drug use. Ford apologists and media sycophants like Joe Warmington are like the co-dependent spouse of some horribly abusive alcoholic.
My point about the culture of public shaming is this....is their any apology, any words that will satisfy everyone. I doubt it. He apologized without excuse, didn't blame anyone but himself. That he didn't name a 1000 names of people seems to be the issue. Everyone wants a personal apology.
In other words some of them are not prepared to be the better person here.
As for the media don't doubt they aren't loving this. This is their bread and butter. And they will never let up. Not while its selling advertising. Please note that an attempted boycott of the press conference failed miserably. And it was reported that reporters were begging to get in.
I want him out. But I don't take things personally from politicians. Why people are in this case is beyond me. I'm not ranting about Wynne. She is in. Fine. But upset? Why bother.
