Reminder

An invitation to SEX WORKERS in the GREATER TORONTO AREA:

Update: In the investigation into sex-worker Cassandra Do's murder, the police have made a link (via DNA) to a sexual assault of another sex worker in 1997. Other sex workers may also have been assaulted but may not have come forward or they may remember being approached by someone who resembles the suspect. To try to find new leads in this case, the police have requested a community meeting with SEX WORKERS in Toronto. The meeting will be held at the 519 Church Street Community Centre on Thursday October 16th (next week) at 1pm.

Detectives Craig Sanson and Steve Bell with the Homicide Squad who are the lead investigators into the Cassandra Do murder will be in attendance as well as Sex Crimes Detective Wendy Leaver and GLBT Police Liaison officer Jackie O'Keefe.

My understanding is that this meeting in intended to:
a) provide up to date information to sex workers about the ongoing investigation.

b) to ask sex workers to provide as much information as they have about any clients who match the description of the suspect.

c) to take direction from the sex workers about "next steps" in the investigation.

All female and MTF sex workers are asked to attend this meeting. It's an issue affecting all female and MTF sex workers in the city of Toronto and outlying areas. Please pass this invitation along to any sex workers you know.

Please, if you are NOT a sex working woman (trans inclusive) than respect that you aren't welcome at this meeting.
