That made me laugh. I went to school with one of the guys mentioned... I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that someone like him got hired to be a cop. Not surprised in the least he's mentioned here.

That really puts things into perspective. Christ.

More on topic... I can't really blame some cops for looking the other way in those circumstances. That's a tough call for sure: co-workers/friends vs. job.

Stupid laws anyway .... just ask most cops, they will all say MJ illegal is a waste of time . These guys are getting punished for doing nothing really bad just BS.
The ones that were selling stolen dope are the bad guys here.

As much as I'm not a fan of cops, I definitely agree that MJ laws are old and archaic. People need to get over it. It's not evil, not addictive, doesn't kill you, etc etc etc!

The fact of the matter is that possession of marijuana is still illegal at this point. By agreeing to become a police officer, you have to place yourself in a higher moral standard than the rest of society. How can they be working and bust someone for possession of dope, knowing that they have a half-quarter sitting waiting at home for them.

Unfortunately, a lot of these officers see themselves as being "above the law" and, therefore, act like everyone else, thinking that they are safe as part of the ol' boys club. Regardless of whether or not that it is fair to them that they have to keep themselves out of misdemeanor everyday acts, they signed up for it.

I think that the punishments were fair. The one that actually was smoking the weed is lucky that he wasn't fired.

Hopefully with my face in a pussy
Waterloo Regional Police Chief Matt Torigian says "I think the whole issue around drugs and what we're dealing with today is a re-affirmation that it's prevalent and that we can't let up, and we have to continue with our efforts in drug awareness and enforcement."

He also says it demonstrates the ill effects of drugs and how they can devastate someone's life.
Conveniently forgetting to note that the only reason this incident devastated their lives was because it's illegal. If we made eating donuts illegal then most of the force would have their lives devastated. He doesn't bother coming up with the physiological "ill effects" because he knows that other than being unable to function properly for an hour or two there are no lasting effects. He's just looking at his job security.
