CRTC will not allow this function to be turned off in Canada. I’ve been hoping that there would be a more imaginative workaround.
Really? Didn't know that as I'm US-based.CRTC will not allow this function to be turned off in Canada. I’ve been hoping that there would be a more imaginative workaround.
Is it that big a deal? I can't think of the last time I got an alert. Turn off your phone when you go to bed if you don't want to be woken up.I really hate getting these alerts. Other than turning off my phone, is there a work around this alert for iPhone?

I have to agree. This is annoying. All it does is make people annoyed and not pay attention to the alerts. Obviously, if it were my kid I would want them to do everything they can, but this does do anything. It would be better if the alerts came through after you take the phone of do not disturb. That way more people would pay attention to themTo you people who belittle others because they are irritated by this invasion of privacy, so people cannot turn off the phones that they pay for because of family or work reasons. These alerts should have an option to disable during sleep time. As I have already pointed out, there is nothing you can do when you are asleep.
I searched and found a way to mute them. They will be there when I wake up in the morning. The alert concept is a great idea - the implementation of it was poor. People have the right to not be disturbed when they are sleeping, yet maintain the ability to hear and respond to an emergency call from a family member.
Sheesh!
I'm not belittling people. I'm one of those who can't turn off or silence my phone at night. I'm just saying, if you give people an option to opt out, the system becomes far less effective. From what I gather, there's only a few Amber Alerts each year and not all of them happen in the middle of the night. It's a very small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. To you people who belittle others because they are irritated by this invasion of privacy, so people cannot turn off the phones that they pay for because of family or work reasons.
