They seem to have edited a grey wolf's DNA based on a Dire Wolf's DNA they recovered from a fossil.
Not sure if it can be considered a Dire Wolf.
Guess we need some scientific consensus on this.
Why don't you have a little fun and answer my questions? I never got to know which is your favorite dinosaur 🦕...

Why don't you have a little fun and answer my questions? I never got to know which is your favorite dinosaur 🦕...
Oh I didn't see your questions, just the title of the thread.
Question 1: Are you the ones who think we shouldn't play with nature like that?
No. I don't mind things like this. Humans have hunted and made several animals extinct so why not bring a few back?

Question 2: What is your favorite dinosaur?
I am gonna go with Therizinosaurus. Looks like a mutated chicken but was herbivorous.

Question 3: Can I pet that dog?
Yes, of course! Why else would you want to bring it back?!

Does no one recall how first contact killed off a lot of the indigenous with what the 'civilized' saw as a cold or a flu, whats the big deal.

This company risks regene the extinct animal, then have it wiped out by some common present day non distressing disease the old genes had not adapted to.

You still don't answer any of my questions.
Okay

Question 1: Are you the ones who think we shouldn't play with nature like that?
If we made a species extinct, like the passenger pigeon, the thylacine, or Steller's sea cow, shouldn't we try to correct that? How is bringing them back worse?

Question 2: What is your favorite dinosaur?
Probably Triceratops. Anything disguised as a gentle vegetarian while bearing a faceful of stabbing death spikes deserves respect.

Question 3: Can I pet that dog?
Go ahead. Where are you posting the video? 🤪

Science is really scary yet the progress fascinates me.

"Colossal has been working toward resurrecting the mammoth, dodo and Tasmanian tiger since 2021, but the company had not previously publicized its work on dire wolves."

Question 1: Are you the ones who think we shouldn't play with nature like that?

Unless it is made to save a species men's endangered I want to say yes. However they seems to push it too far with the mammoth and the dire wolves If they can be called dire wolves.

Question 2: What is your favorite dinosaur?

Question 3: Can I pet that dog?
I read earlier today that this is not true.

Will have to do more research because I find this interesting.

Unless it is a species that is integral to earth's survival like honey bees, no.

Question 2: What is your favorite dinosaur?

Ankylosaurus and Dilophosaurus

Question 3: Can I pet that dog?

Very relevant point, that was the premise of H.G Wells: War of the Worlds. Humans were helpless against the Martians, the Martians were helpless against pathogens.

They brought back Marjorie Taylor Greene from the neanderthal era and that just proves how dangerous this Jurassic manipulation can be.
Now, dont dis the neanderthals. Read the book series by Jean M. Auel set in thier time period.
MTG more likely was the gene manipulation of Alf.

It's most likely that they were wiped out by men. Destroying the environment they live in. I know repunlican don't believe in climate change but for regular people it's a real thing.

Dire wolves remain extinct.

This is a new hybrid breed - present day wolf containing parts of dire wolf genus.

It's interesting.

Scientists say it's unlikely they can do the same for dinosaurs since DNA degrades within a million years, and the last of the dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago.

This is true, these scientists just created a replica with some characteristics of the original. If they breed these replicas then the modern wolf strain in them might dominate.
They are said to be working on mammoth and mastodon replicas with modern day elephants and DNA from mammoths preserved in glaciers.
Who is funding this research ? Maybe someone like Musk would attempt to produce a “master race” in his image going forward
with eugenics programs coming to limit DEI or woke propagation as well.
Hitler tried and failed.

That's where the conflict is. The scientists of Collisal says that if it looks and act like a dire wolf, then it's a dire wolf. Now I guess you guys are right and a lot of people think like you but I will let them debate about that.

May not be necessary to get actual dinosaur DNA in order to ressurect one. The DNA might still exist in birds as junk DNA, and selectively activating dormant parts could conceivably retro a bird to whatever related suraischian is still in there somewhere. Might be wrong, I'm not a geneticist, but could be worth a shot. Imagine being out in the woods and all of a sudden you're attacked by 10 grams of fearsome killing machine reverse engineered from a chickadee. The horror!

I agree that this is not a true ”dire wolf” but a gmo current wolf. Dire wolves are extinct
