They are very expensive, but if your matter is ugly or illegal in any way, you will need client solicitor privilege, which they provide. If you want another tax lawyer, I have a few guys, send me what you are looking for...

If you have a plain vanilla matter, you can go to any good C.A., but CRA has access to your entire file...

I second RogerRabbit's remarks.

An account can some times help you organize your affairs / transactions in a that can make the problem go away.

I was involved in a case once where client had 12k+ in legal & tax account fees before I was involved in a related company year end, in a five minute disscussion We reduced a the cash requirement by 2/3 and made the payment deductable -- when we querried the the tax guys about why we didn't do this in the first place was infomed that the deduction might get disallowed (40k risk vs 400k cash payment) which would you choose?

My soluton was not magic or tricky but simply used what was already in place effectly, but it would not generate huge fees

We we were not getting the fees the Lawyers and outside advisors were and boy were they ticked.

My boss was not impressed with the high priced advisors
