Greetings all.

My Cannon camera has a lens error.
Cannon quoted $190.00 to repair flat rate of course. it is only $280.00 or so to replace
It is an SX100 P&S with extended zoom.

Any ideas where to get it fixed by a decent independent company?

If not I will bite the bullet and upgrade to a DSLR.

What is the warranty on the repair, if it is very short, it is not worth the money and you should invest in a new camera? What is the realistic life span and history of damage to this camera?

That is a good question. Not sure about the warranty period after repair.

From doing some web based research this is a known issue.
It is only 17 months old.
