Not wanting to spend 20 minutes on this but does he have anything other than speculation to base that on?
The study for those like me who would rather read the paper than hear some youtube personality interpret it.

It does admit that the most popular theory is a chronically infected person with a compromised immune system.
Their analysis of their results is beyond what I can argue but if this is being taken seriously I would expect testing of mice in the original outbreak area could help build evidence for it.
