I'm dying to go back to the gym but I'm scared, guys running and a lot of of heavy breathing. (not that one LOL)

I walk outside for an hour but want to do weights I have nothing at home except a ab machine and 2x5 lbs dumbbells. Do the gym report outbreaks?

Did you guys and gals go back?

I went back.
Have to wear a mask when working out which isn't the most comfortable thing.
My gym is pretty quiet when I go(around 1pm) and it helps I live in a small town.
Best advise is wear a mask and use hand sanitizer when you are done or intermittently during the work out. Find a time when the gym is quiet, if your schedule allows it.
With the vaccine passports coming next week it might make the gyms even quieter.

I didn’t realize how much I loved working out from home until COVID. If you need advice or programs PM me. A pair of adjustable dumbbells & you can conquer the world.

Went back bout a month ago. You can take off mask while working out, but wear it when walking in the hallway, going to your equipment, etc. There are sanitation instructions for each equipment (clean before and after use) but some people don’t even bother.

As for outbreaks, there hasn’t been any yet as far as I know but they would probably notify us through phone since they have our number in their records and know our time-in based from the swipe cards.

You're right. We can just adapt to whatever situation we're in. We can do excellent workouts without a gym.

I've been going but much less than before. I mix in home workouts where I get most of the cardio/light weight training out of the way and only go in when I need the equipment. Same deal as others - mask off when working out and mask on when walking around, wipe machines when done, etc.

I've been back since phase 3 started, no issues you wear a mask to walk around but take it off when working out
Not that many ppl are coming right now so over crowding isnt an issue now with vaccine proof needed even less ppl will come so even better lol

Oddly enough, my results have been much better at home. I paid good money for programs, pm me if you want me to email you some (for free obviously). I only resistance train & do mobility work though. Stay strong brother 💪

My gym never closed. I quit. Apart from getting tired of the pain but no gain aspect, I notice that Canadians have gotten bigger on average. To the point where most Caucasians and quite a lot of Asians and East Indians are about 8 " taller than me and about 80 lbs heavier and look tough and fighting fit. I am about Tom Cruise size. A feeling of hopelessness descended upon me.

Do you realize how many people would love to be in Tom Cruise shape?!

You should watch the Jack Reacher movie, there is one scene you will no doubt love and IIRC it's earlier in the movie.

No one is born fit, and I’m certain the same guys in the gym have had the same thoughts at one point or all the time. Everybody has self doubts whether they like to admit it or not — self actualization can help you find the discipline within to become the best version of yourself and what you want out of life aside from societal constructs such as work/family/friends.

I recommend reading the allegory of the cave by Plato, it’s really freeing.

I won't say never, but I've almost never gotten attitude from the gym, even as a huge fat guy. Most swole gym brahs are actually pretty friendly.
If you show up and try even a bit, that gets the respect.
Of the two guys who were expections, both were obviously jerks in other areas of their lives. One of whom I had to resist laughing at when he tried to intimidate me, ogres don't get intimidated by hobbits, it's more cute than anything. The other guy was just nuts.

I've been back to the gym since about 2 weeks after they opened. I found it really hard to stay in shape during the many months of lockdowns. I found that running outside was very hard on my knees and the weather in Toronto is always a crap shoot, going from uncomfortably cold to uncomfortably hot/humid. I also lost a lot of muscle and started to take on a more pear shape physique. The opening of the gyms has been a blessing to both my physical and mental health and I can already feel my chest, shoulder and arm muscles growing.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to check and see what what format they have.
