I noticed that when I accessed certain Canadians news media like The Toronto Star and even The USA news media like The Washington Post, they allow you to do so for a maximum of say 5 times per month. After that, they only allow you to access their website / articles if you subscribe and pay a certain minimal amount like $2 for that month.
Now I do not like to reveal any credit card information unnecessarily, as they will automatically keep on charging you once that month is up and really you have to be on the ball to cancel each and everyone of those subscriptions within the time frame.
A VPN makes no difference in the way that they track you.
I guess the only way to bypass that, is to remove the individual cookies that they install on your computer.
Now a number of other sites that you previously visited also install those cookies, and annoyingly pull up ads on to any other sites that you are accessing on the internet.
I do not like to go and delete all the cookies in one go, as a number of sites including TERB automatically have my login and passwords saved. These will be deleted, and then I will have to login and enter the passwords all over again for all the different sites.

As of now I have to go and delete only the individual cookies that I have an issue with.

So how often do you go and delete all your cookies, so that they stop tracking your visits to various sites and also pull up their annoying ads?

There is a private mode available in most modern browsers.....
Another option is to use a specific browser for news sites, another for your adult stuff, another for your financial/online purchasing...clear out the cookies as needed without interfering with the other sites.

For Wapo, when using chrome, switch to incognito mode.

Problem solved.

Thanks for the info and I have added Chromcast to my Browser and run it in parallel to Safari. So I delete all the History from the Chromcast and have made sure that it des not include my Login name and Password.
Yes, you are not restricted to the number of times you can visit all the sites that then ask you to subscribe.
