Hi guys and girls,

First off let me say that I have been a fan of terb for many years and am actually a senior member here, but I decided to make a brand new profile and start fresh from this post.

I am a recent college graduate and out there looking for a job.
I thought since terb is so popular that this would be the best place online to “network” with people.
I graduated from CDI College with a diploma in Network and Internet Support Specialist - Windows 2000.
I am looking for a career in Computer Networking.

If any of you guys or girls want more information and can help me out, and in turn help out the terb industry please PM me with information.
If you got a comment on my post, just reply to the post.

Thank you all in advance, hope to be part of Ontario’s working class in no time.

One of my job titles is computer specialist. I will tell you that these business colleges are just not worth your time for all the recognition you don't get. They are the major reason why you have so many "computer specialist" running around not just the GTA but the Golden Horseshoe, most of them without work.

I have heard horror stories where companies have taken on a computer network graduate from one of these business colleges only to have this person accidently crash their network by making an error that a graduae of a college or university would never do.

The big problem is that some of these business colleges is that they are not regulated at all. For the most part they get their money from OSAP and then virtually forget about the student. Another headache is that the Ontario government doesn't want to do anything about it. I think that all business colleges should be taken off OSAP elgibility list.

Hi Bob. Thanks for your resume, its a bit sparse but I see some potential. I've passed it along to about 25 or so various partners, colleagues and other entities with the hope that you'll get hired and get into some serious real world experience.

hopefully, this helps.

meanwhile.... PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. You may want to familiarise yourself with Linux. [redhat9 is pretty good] as you will see a fair amount of it in the world over the next few years.

Dont let the world get you down, it gets better., :)

I'll help as able. Be strong, Be Persistant and be creative.

cheers

Hi one and all.
First off thanks for the response all of you have given my thread.

When I chose this area of study and CDI College, my hopes were to enter a company at the entry level, at helpdesk or servicing computers and then gradually work and earn my way up towards a promising career. I am not expecting to walk in and run a whole network tomorrow. As a matter of fact my dream place to work is RIM; I applied as a helpdesk support rep for the blackberry line. Did not work out as I planned and I am not giving up there, I am going to go back and apply again next time they are looking.

First off let me address GOD.
Your response though very scary for someone in my position is a real eye opener. You have given me plenty of homework to do and I am scared and very thankful. I did not realize that CDI sucked that badly. Which leads me to ask what my options are? You mention ¡¥training farm¡¦, can you point me to the right direction? I have no problems doing the grunt work; I kind of expected that, I am just hungry for the opportunity to get my foot in the door to work and learn and prove myself. I am no stranger to hard work and dedication to my job. Thanks for the help and yes I do live with and have the backing of people who can support me in working at my career.

You are a nice guy, thanks for taking a look at my resume and also confirming for me that my new website works. ļ
I agree with you, it is sparse; see unlike other lucky people it took me 3-4 tries at finding the right line education for me. Now, finally I believe I have found the perfect calling for me and all I need right now is a foot in the door to get the ball rolling and never look back. Thank you for sending out my resume to your friends and colleagues, as they say the main way of getting work is networking right. I am still learning and practicing right now, as in my resume, I am actually studying for the other exams, it has read the point though where I can only do one more because of financial reasons. The preverbal chicken or the egg thing now, I need the job and money to do the exams, and need the exams to get a job. ļ

All others
Thanks for your responses and links, I am following up on them and I greatly appreciate the help. Please remember people, computer networking is not limited to computer related companies; anywhere with a lot of computers will need a guy like me, e.g. Insurance or accounting firms. Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated. Pm me for information on my resume or any help. I will keep this thread updated until the point that I am employed just to give it a good conclusion. Any more help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all
