I know I'm kind of late to this thread, but I agree with the actions you took; however, I would ensure that you post in your ad that temperature will be taken and service declined if it's high. Guys should know that going in.

It's pretty crappy of him to rant at your door about it, but as you've said, he clearly knew that he was not feeling well. I guess the only other thing you could have done was to use the thermometer on yourself just to eliminate the slim possibility that maybe it wasn't working right. However, giving him gas money would have been improper imo. He has a responsibility to not pass ANY condition on to anyone he sees. The "it's just a flu" comment shows a complete disregard for another's well-being.

The whole thing makes me want to see you even more now. Bummed that the week you came to K/W, I was at a cottage on vacation.

To be clear, I did take my temp to show him. And I take it before every appointment. Some have asked to see my reading and I will take it again in front of them. It is just one of those digital guns that you shoot at the arm or forehead.

We tested it on his forehead and arm and both came back 37.9. We waited a minute or two while he went on about not knowing I take temps. I do know I have written that I do that here on TERB but I guess he never read that.

Then I took the temp again. Both head and arm and it was the same again. So he had a total of 4 checks.

Also it was an evening appointment wasn’t some extremely hot day.

He was such a regular, he wouldn’t have read my site or my ad anyways now that I’m thinking about it. Most clients don’t “update” themselves when they have seen you before. So for that, I guess I just have to say it in every booking made. Which is a pain in the ass! It is such common place for temps to be taken wherever you go. This is the first client who has ever had issue and I bet he wouldn’t have if the temp was fine. Ugh.

I will add, I take the temp of anyone coming in my house. Including workers. I had doors replaced last week and before they came in, I asked, they said no problem. Temps came out green, all was good. I don’t think I will stop doing it. COVID gave us some great tools for avoiding a few things like COVID but flus/cold etc.

Yes, covid has taught us a lot about many things + given us some new tools & ideas to use to keep us healthier & safer. Proper hand hygiene has become the norm for many and many other things.
But it has also shown us how some people thing or act. Some with kindness, empathy & respect; while a few others as total .
Like politics, its divided families & friends.

ugh... this is one of the main reasons covid keeps spreading like wildfire. people with suspected symptoms don't stay home. he prob didn't go and do a test to see whether or not he really is positive or negative either.

From what I gather, he incorrectly believes that because he has the vaccines he can’t get or spread COVID. Which we know he can. It is a smaller chance but it is still possible.

Well, you certainly couldn't have done any more then. I think you were more than fair. And if he knew he wasn't feeling well, he could have cancelled the appointment ahead of time, thus saving himself the 45 minute drive. No one has any excuse after the last 18 months; if you're not feeling well, you don't go anywhere until you're 100% sure it's not covd.

Even pre-Covid you have every right to decline this client! He has a fever which equals sick/flu/infection and worst case scenario, Covid!!!! Whatever he has, you would catch it for sure! What was this person thinking ??? And he had the audacity to get upset with you??? Good riddance! You don't need ignorant and ridiculous clients like him. We are in a pandemic buddy. Hello!!
