I guess it could be flattering that they look to you for advice and all, but it does strike me as kind of lazy and impatient.

It takes time to get traction, as you say, and a lot of people seem unwilling to put that time in. They think that because it's easier for you to find the info, that you'll happily do so.

I've gotten help from veterans via PM a couple of times, and I've helped others. I always tried to express that I'd done what I could first, and I never asked for lots of work, just a quick opinion to confirm something, usually.

You guys are right - zero posters asking for specific research is a little untoward.

Actually I get PMed a lot. I started out answering all queries like the nice netizen I am. Then I got tired of that and started telling them how to look it up themselves (ie click <search>, enter your information, press <go> and so on. Then that got tiresome so I started just telling them to search for it themselves. Now I just delete them as soon as they arrive.

I'm very careful with PM's after I got blowback a couple of years ago.

A TERBite PM'd asking if he should see MPA A or MPA B. I responded saying 'A' and he TOLD 'B':

"INDN_LOVER told me not to see you..."



I don't mind pointing newbies in the right direction, but why ask ME if they can DATY with a certain MPA? I can't say yes on the girl's behalf...

Some TERBites are aggressive about demanding intimate details.... and they don't take the hint when I respond politely.

Me as well. I get a fair # of PM's asking about specific services of the ladies, (most of which I have not even seen). Several of these 'requestors' have less than 10 posts, some have even had zero. I think you can guess my replies.
