In case anybody is interested, David Johnston will be the next Governor General. (Not as exciting as Lindsay Lohan going to jail, I know.) Only Stephen Harper has the gall to appoint an able bodied White male to that post.
 
It's interesting that he now appoints a constitutional expert. I wonder if Prof. Johnston had been in place a year ago if he would have allowed the second prorogation to happen? Having said that, he's from Sudbury so he has that going for him. I think, at first pass, it's a good choice.

WE shouldn't forget that he's the guy Harper picked to draft the terms of the Oliphant Inquiry into Mulroney's shady relationship w/ Schreiber so narrowly that it revealed nothing useful and kept BM the PM off the hook.

David Johnston is a brilliant man, extremely thoughtful with a sharp mind to be admired...i have met him on many an occasion and believe he is an excellent choice

So, are you suggesting that David Johnston is a politically correct choice? BTW The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario is David Onley who is also a White guy but he is physically challenged.

How is he not politically correct? Last I heard the job could go to anyone the PM picked, and that's the only necessary qualification—that and Royal Assent of course. Are you suggesting he's not qualified for some reason, or that he got the job thru skullduggery?

What are you going on about? Do you really think there's something wrong—or even significant—about a particular skin colour?
 
once again Rockslinger, shows us all why he is Rockslinger,,,,,,however more importantly, why cant we move on, who gives a flying frigg about the monarchy or the GG..both about as useful as tits on a bull..and while we are at it ..get rid of that useleess arm of the govt, called the Senate...

Actually the qualifications are that he has to own land and have a $5000 net worth.

I am sure he meets this qualification. haha
 
Most people with half a brain or more agree that this is a deserving choice. This is the only place I've heard negative comments but that is to be expected I guess.
