Now I'm not that big of a soccer fan (err, Football). Of course, you'd have to be lliving in a cave not to have heard of who Beckham is. But I never knew much about him other than he was "all that and a bag of chips" in the soccer world on the other side of the pond and that he married a Spice Girl. (And I was never sure which one, nor could I tell you a single song that the Spice Girls ever sang. But I digress.)
But I was told by a friend that this doc about Beckham was really well done and was on Netflix and to check it out.
So I gave it a shot. I ended up watching it over the course of 2 nights and I have to admit, it was a fascinating documentary about a guy that I had no idea was so good of a football player. I'm watching it and there are lots of scenes of him on the field ("the pitch" as they say. Learned a new bit of information there) just blasting that ball into the net with against impossible odds. Surprisingly a humourous bloke as well and I think I might just watch this one again just to pick up everything I missed on the first go round and who was who. And, maybe next time I'm in joly ole England, I will check out a soccer game. (But man, those British soccer fans can be complete shit heads who eat their own. (And I thought the Bills fans were rabid.)
Not to be missed, even if you aren't a soccer fan. It sounds goofy, but he strikes me as a regular guy with shit loads of money, big houses, fancy cars, impossible good looks and a high maintenance wife (who calls herself "working class" until Beckham shames her on camera to tell everyone what kind of car she got dropped off at school in. Now that was hilarious.)
Not quite sure about the whole neck tattoo thing.....
