It goes to show you - there's no guarantees in hockey - and in life.

I was just thinking how it is so hard to graduate from the OHL to the NHL.

I think St. Mikes has been back in OHL for about 12 years and in all that time with hundreds of players going through their system, Danton I think is the highest profile skater they had in the NHL, and he was a fringe player.
There is also a goalie from St. Mikes who I think was a backup in Pittsburg and is now in Colorado,- Peter Budaj. Don't know if he's any good.

it's not necessarily skill that gets you in the nhl... rather a buzz created about you. much like what Frost did with his NHL contacts- Frost was responsible for getting alot of players on NHL teams. like you said- fringe players.

Despite being out the NHL for 4 years and only being a 4th line player while he was there Mike Danton wants to get back in the game when he's paroled.

But none of the GM's the Sun surveyed expressed any interest in signing him to a contract.

He's probably lucky if an East Coast Hockey League team gives him a shot.

Very little upside and a lot of risk to giving him a chance because he'll likely be disruptive or at the very least an awkward presence in any dressing room.

I feel sorry for Mike Danton. He obviously had some serious problems.

I dont' think anyone will take a chance on him, but I hope he does get his life together.

He's going to have to get a job in the real world and a lot of people who have been all about hockey since they were 12 have trouble making that transition.

But, before that he may have a chance to play a bit of hockey.
If he can prove he has something in East Coast League or something like that, then he might get a chance to play in the Russian league.
I hear they're starting to pay some pretty good money over there. They might even killl Frost for him and he could live happily ever after knowing that leach is not around the corning stalking him and trying to control him.
