Then do them a favor and stop glorifying any war.A number of veterans I've heard say that the beach scene at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan was so accurate that they had to stop watching it. I can fully understand why! That said it was set at Omaha Beach, generally regarded as having been the bloodiest of the five.
There is an important and huge difference between saying a war is in the national interest, and saying that war is a wonderful thing. Then do them a favor and stop glorifying any war.
You never heard about a war, you did not like. Probably because you never were in any. There is an important and huge difference between saying a war is in the national interest, and saying that war is a wonderful thing.
Think about it...If you were 18 on d-day you are 94 today. I remember WWII vets growing up, including uncles, including some who died in the war. Lot of those blokes were fucked up royally, but as was the custom back in the 70s, no one complained. But every so often a vet would blow his brains out, or some who spend all their time in the pub, or couldn't hold a job or family. Nowadays we see it clearly as ptsd, but back then, it was more hidden and if spoken about only in hushed tones. Anyhow, bless all of them from all the allied armies who fought and ended fascism and genocide, at least for a while. To all our D-Day Vets. June 6 1944 THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Ave age of a WWII Vet now is 88 plus. When you see one shake his or her hand. Soon they will be gone to meet their WWI "Brothers."
Proud son and son in law of WW II Vets.
My dad was royally fucked in the head. The only reason he survived WW II, he was a very talented mechanic. The Germans forgot to bring mechanics into North Africa, the Italians had to fix their tanks. He became a talented millwright, Canada had a shortage of them and he got a job offer to come to Toronto. I'm still using the coffee pot he made when we still lived in Italy. It still works fine and makes better espresso than any of the overpriced pots on the market today.Think about it...If you were 18 on d-day you are 94 today.
