I get so angry when somebody says we should ride on the sidewalk. We have no right to ride on the sidewalk but do have a right to ride on the road. Car drivers should just accept that we have as much right to the road as they have.
I am glad I live in an area that is not as busy as TO, where most drivers are at least reasonably curteous.
The biggest dangers I usually see are the problem that many drivers do not really notice cyclists or underestimate our speed and turn in front of us.

Cyclists are required to use the road, but certain traffic laws apply. For example, they have to move with the the flow of traffic but without obstructing the movement of faster vehicles (ie cars) that try to overtake them. They must signal turns and stops. And for safety's sake please stop before trying to closely pass a vehicle that appears to be stopped or parked, lest you might get "doored".

I'm a long time cycler (bicycle and motorcycle). One priceless piece of advice that I learned at my beginners motorcycle course has saved me many times: Ride like you are invisible. Assume that nobody can see you.

Okay, so I'm playing golf, putting on the 17th green, and these 2 a$$h073 cyclists in full gear go by on the road (it was rural), and yell out as my buddy is over his putt. They weren't kids, in their 30's, but total butt munches. I almost fired a golf ball down the road at them.

oh thanks, yeah that will come in handy, would these work with rollerblades too? and abouts how much are they?
Depends which model you get. Cateye is pretty much the higher end of the spectrum, but Raleigh and some other companies make them as well. Sportscheck where you got your bike has a couple models running from about $30 for the entry level and up to $80 for the wireless model by Cateye.

Sorry no they won't work on roller blades Lisa. ;)

I hope cyclists would just stay on the sidewalk.

It's very dangerous to ride your bike on the roads where cars
are driving! I hope Ontario can make this new law.

If you were an experienced cyclist you would know that it is far more dangerous to ride on the sidewalk than on the road. The risk of being hit by a car coming out of a hiden driveway are much higher. Learn how to ride, learn the rules of the road and behave like any other road users and you will be fine.
You are also a risk to legal sidewalk users.

The Ontario Highway code regarding cyclists is very safe and sensible in allowing cyclists the same rights and responsability as any other vehicle, and is one that is adopted by most civilized country.

Meh. I don't like thongs. I wear them only when I know they're not going to stay on for very long. But for riding my bike, no thong, thankyouverymuch. I'd rather go commando.
That's why they invented cycling shorts. No experienced cyclist would wear underwear, even under other clothing.
