I use Hotwire for downtown Toronto

Even though you do not know which hotel you are getting til you pay; I always end up w/either Sheraton or Harbour Castle for 80 something

I am flying in and someone is supposed to pick me up however this is our first meeting so he could do a no show then I will rely on a taxi.

Well of course everyone likes 4 and 5 star hotels as they are nice but expensive. I could afford it but I am not rich and I would rather put my money to towards other interests on this trip. With that said I can’t stay in a dump either. I am looking at downtown but I am willing to stay further out if I can’t find somewhere nice and affordable. I need a place to be decent and clean.

1 King West. Terrible if you have a car. Incredible if you do not. Cost about $ 149 Canadian. Corner of King and Young. On the Subway, Heart of the city. a few blocks to theater district and clubs.

Airport and west end you need a car.

I saw this hotel on bay street. IIRC it is near the delta and called the bay street hotel. The price was under 50 bucks.

Whats up with that? Do you have to share a bed?
You may want to be a bit more selective then that. :)

The Really Cool Wife and myself frequently visit Toronto and the clubs. We stay downtown and outside of downtown. We never pay full price for a hotel and only stay at 4 star or better hotels. Here is how to get your best deal. Go to Hotwire and do a search for Toronto. It will allow you to narrow down by neighborhood. It will not give you the hotel names, only the number of stars and what the hotel has to offer. Then go to betterbidding.com. This sight will help you find out what the hotel is that you are going to get by comparing the stars and amenities. It has worked 100% of the time for me.

I think this is the one that's short walk from Greyhound bus depot.

For those on a budget, schools rent out their res for the summer, some recent renovated:
Ryerson
UofT
Language school near Spadina/Bloor with rooms for short stay (3 nights+).
Yearround - The residence (416) 351-1010 @ Elizabeth/College

If it's for 'work', tell them you're a hardworking student with many study partners. ;)
