Nexus means you have been pre-approved for entry. They can still question you about what you are transporting across the border but odds are you will have less hassles (unless you have established a pattern that seems suspicious).
In my experience it does speed up your crossing. I was at a small crossing a while back and the two cars ahead of me were questioned for a couple of minutes each. When the border patrolwoman saw my Nexus card, she just said: have a good visit. I whizzed through.
i was on an old dirt road near winnipeg last summer. i was just driving along and saw a pylon in the road didn't think nothing of it and i was bored so i lined up and put the peddle as far down as it would go. smashed that fucking pylon. i look in my mirror shortly after and see flashing lights like crazy and pull over. turns out the pylon was the border. good times.
True, but the rules are fairly straight forward as is what they go after.
I've never heard of someone being prosecuted for say having attended a meeting related to business on an otherwise vacation trip (although you might have your Nexus Card revoked), as opposed to trying to smuggle five cases of liquor or 10 kilos of marijunana.
