Crown decides if they will execute a warrant and how far they will go to get you! Usually 3 or 4 hundred Km. The more serious the crime, the farther they will go to get you...ie; 'Canada Wide Warrant'...

No one better then Nottiboi.

Suma cum laude Law and Order Law School (SNU)
He won't be able to tell the OP what to do, he's off telling the pediatric surgeons at Sick Kids how to do a heart / lung transplant on a 3 day old baby, then he's off to India to tell them how to correctly build their latest nuclear reactor, then off to harvard to lecture on Post 911 realities at the UN summit there. From there, it's off to BMW to tell them what they are doing wrong with their car designs.

The police and the crown determine if the warrant is to be province wid or national, I believe any warrant in any province in CAnada will get you arrested if they see the warrant but on a provincial warrant from Ont a mounty in Alberta would have to search the Ontario data base. National warrants are posted to all data bases.

The nature of the crime determines the area covered

Typical attitude on this board is, you're guilty...be a man and fess up.....as for captain kirk.. he will tell you just to accept whatever crap comes your way.... and city council is always right.

from what i understand, if u have a provincial warrant from one province you can only be temporarily detained to see if the originating province is willing to come and collect u. with the exception of B C where they have special funding to send offenders back to the province of the original offence. does this sound correct?

it is usually the 300 or400 km....mark..for small shoplifts,,, break in...smaller stuff..that separates the two types...

After that...its Canada wide......

Any policewoman in the country can see any warrant in the country from his computer.

Any Police agency will arrest you and ask the unit with the warrant if they want you back.

Its the Crown Attorneys who pay to ship you back....so in part the costing plays into it.

However..the warrant is always there...waiting to be acted on.....should you show up..or be wanted enough..in the 'home' jurisdiction where the warrant sits!

Most crimes will be local warrants..Frauds, thefts, mischief..(dependant on value)

Robberies, Sex Crimes, Murders, treasons, extortions, may end up canada wide

For those who care the situation as regards arrest warrants is very much the same in the U.S.
