Craiglist rideshare - a business?

Rideshare on Craigslist (modern day's hitchhike) or business. I believe people are it a business, you see the same ad daily for rides from Toronto to Montreal and return. They normally charge from $30 to $40 per person. A daily trip will generate $200 to $300. I find this outfit dangerous and unregulated. Any one have some experience to share

Everyone couple of years, a "ride share" 15 passenger van with an inexperienced driver has a massive roll over and kills and injures a bunch of people. The risk isn't worth the reward. When in doubt, ride a real bus and enjoy the trip, it ain't that much more expensive in the end.

Have used ride share lots , not the van usually cars , always worked well for me , and have meet some very cool people , less then half price and faster ,guess you haven't priced out via rail or grey coach for a ticket , ride a real bus like the bible kids last week, with experienced driver, who makes minimum wage who lost control on the ramp leaving the 400 .

It has happened just once in 11 years and it was because of an inexperienced driver who got his drivers permit only weeks earlier.

Most listings are of individuals who want to split cost of gas or make a few bucks to include their labour and the car's wear and tear.

The ones who attempt to make a business of it burn out.
