Covid to tip 2024 US electorate?

Covid has killed over 100,000 people in the US in the last month, most of them Republican. With mandates being eliminated, bit by bit the pandemic will trundle on with an accepted death rate of a couple thousand a day for the next few years - again, greatly affecting the unvaccinated, which by and large vote Republican.

A great number of these victims were and will undoubtedly be residents of swing states. In 2020 as in most elections the swing state results were very close. The loss of 20,000 voters in key districts could change election results. The loss of a couple hundred thousand would give the Democrats important victories in large formerly Republican strongholds.

Will we see Covid changing the electoral map of the US in 2024? Will the "Give me freedom and/or give me death" crowd discover they've become a crack suicide squad that keeps Democrats firmly in office?

'Twill be interesting to see.

The GOP will gerrymander their way to the oval office along with other voter suppression laws.

Did it say they were Republican on their death certificate or are you just assuming.

Check the death rate by state. It's very similar to the party in power by state.
Doesn't mean they voted Republican. After all Trump lost the election and last I checked New York New Jersey and California all Democratic states have very high numbers too.

As of December 2021 91% of democrats where vaccinated while only 60% gop had just one shot. Per 100k 25 death in Trump counties versus 7.8 in Biden voting counties...

I think it's fair to assume, withtout too much degree of errors, that Trumpers are dying with covid at a higher rate.

Early in the pandemic it was a matter of most-densely-packed-places getting the greatest transmission and deaths. Once vaccines became available, it's now a pandemic of those who refuse to get the vaccines, which by and large are Republicans.

The Long Tail of this pandemic will see the unvaccinated dying at a vastly larger rate than anyone else, for years to come. And those are far more often Trump voters.

Some claimed Covid was a Democratic plot -- if so, they're playing into it beyond any Democrat's wildest dreams.

I'll see if I can find it again. Someone crunched the numbers.
It just isn't going to be a factor except maybe in races that are extremely close.
There is a reason the GOP calculated they could work against stopping the virus and it not hurt them politically.

In 2020, Wisconsin was decided by what, 20,000 votes? Almost 13,000 have died of Covid so far. If it continues at its current rate (around 30-40 every day) for the rest of the year, that's another...oh, say 12,000 people. By 2024, it could really make a difference.

You really think Joe Biden will get reelected. Every Republican voter can die off and he'd still lose.

I don't expect these rates to continue until 2024, and the proportions would have to be so dramatically skewed to Republican voters that it just doesn't seem reasonable.

I think it does now indeed skew crazy Republican, particularly Trump-style.

When all restrictions drop, it's open season for the virus on the unvaxxed. I think case loads will be high for at least a year.
