Charlotte thank you for sharing.

Try to reduce your condo rent expense with another lady or two. Also you are in Toronto so you price to Toronto market. This is Ottawa and we are 2 hours away from Montreal. The real comparison is Montreal not Toronto.

Thanks for sharing your side of the business.

I was surprised to see a tweet from another Indy MA that Spa MAs are making minimum wage. I didn't know the minimum wage was $100/hr now lol.

To assume everyone sees 4 clients a day every day worked is a big assumption too. Many times when you're indy you may see 1 person a day max, or a a few a week max. Agencies and spas just get far more volume of inquiries due to having many more ladies available even when ladies quit or move on many gents stick to the same agency/spa because they're familiar with the owner/booker.

For myself I rent a separate work condo and do prebookings only. My expenses just for the condo (rent, utilities, toiletries, landline, wifi) plus terb/ad site advertising is about $2500 not including any personal living expenses (separate $2000 condo to live in with a pet), clothes, makeup, photoshoots, food, transportation to the work condo etc. It's a lot of hours to break even let alone profit.
And here is the problem with indis. They cannot sustain the full-time load of customers, and, hence, the fixed cost become more important. On the other hand, having only 1 or two customers per day means that the work is part-time, not full time, nevertheless, indies expect to get the full-time pay. Massage places and agencies are more more economically efficient.

This is an un-insured work.
There should be a substantial premium for this being a high risk business.

You cannot think of this with regular, regulated business models. There are more costs than can be listed in normal regulated work circumstances.

There's psychological and physical cost to it. And they are a premium.

Imagine if you get 1 or 2 other girls to share this cost with you! The profit margin would be great :)
At first I was on your side about other points, but this statement is ignorant and what Inara said makes a lot of sense.

Multiple escorts sharing a property for their business would make it a brothel, therefore, illegal. That is a lot of traffic going in & out of one place and neighbours would definitely notice. Also, clients like myself would not like to run into other clients and have the possibility of being ganged up by multiple girls if things were to go wrong.

Your idea makes sense in theory, but it is not sustainable in real life.

Actually, not illegal. Basically, as illegal as having a computer repair shop in the apartment: can only violate zoning codes and/or lease terms. Such type of "coop-brothels" are not illegal anymore, it is illegal for clients to use them (same as to use the services of just a singe indi in a discrete location though). While the point of inconvenience and high traffic is valid, Mirage is using the same apartment for more than 5 years and, in the past, they had girls in Ottawa on continuous basis without any problem.

Thanks, Ali for the info. I take your numbers as they are, and really I have no advice to give you on how to manage things. T'es assez vieille pour savoir quoi faire. It will give lowballers a mouthful!

Just a little reply to one of those self-improvised consultants that surfaced in the discussion, the one that said that the phone expense should not be included. I don't know how many ladies that guy knows, but almost all Indies I know have a phone for business and another for their personal life. Therefore a perfect justification for a direct expense.

Rent: $1,640
Electricity: $100
Assurances: $45

Total (1): $1805

Imagine if you get 1 or 2 other girls to share this cost with you! The profit margin would be great :)
==================
Leolist: $286
Discreetlist: $10
Website $50

Total (2): $286

May I ask why discreetlist? Do guys actually look at that? I would think that with LL, Twitter, and posting on Terb you’d get enough publicly (2 of which are free). As for the Website, this is used to post information in an organized manner online for clients to be able to read right? Check this {["]LINK[/URL]} and it’s free :)
==================
Soaps, oils, cleaning product: $100
Towels, sheets: $100

Total (3): $200

Per month for this? ... seems like a lot, no? Especially for the towels/sheets, how are you buying this much worth every months?
==================
Internet / phone: $140

imo this shouldn’t be included as you’d be paying it regardless of what your career was, we all do.
==================

Total (1-2-3): $2,291 per month

For working 20 days/month, this is $114.55 per day. This means that ONLY one $140hh client per shift (on average) will cover the entire operating cost :)

Imagine if you get 1 or 2 other girls to share this cost with you! The profit margin would be great :)
Have you shared a place with a person before? Please don't think that is the way to lessen expense because it rarely works out in reality as it does on paper. Plus it is considered a brothel as soon as two women use the same space for sex work. That is how the law looks at. Some don't want to take that risk. You can't condemn them for it because it doesn't look good on your spread sheet.

And you forgot one thing in this post - income to live on???? We need to eat too! Pay for kids as many of us are single parents with no child support. Daycare costs was not added in there either. Some have it, some don't.

As for the sheets and towels, washing with bleach can do damage and fast with the amount we need to wash them. Not to mention the horror stories of how some dirty men make it that sheets/towels just need to be tossed out. Laundry costs which we don't calculate the time spent on.

You guys just don't get that what you put in paper is not truly a reflection of the reality.

From what I have seen, girls can be extremely jealous, catty, and greedy. After a week of getting their own incall to share, one of the girls will probably break down and fight with her incall partner about stealing her clients, money, not doing her share of cleaning, etc. lol. I've heard some stories about jealous girls at spas, I wish everyone could just get along!
And this is the reason why agencies are needed :) They serve as a middleman and they can easily deal with such situations by firing the girl who does not want to cooperate.

In my situation (Not talking for anyone else here) , I thank you for the suggestions , but I like the way I rule my business for multiple reasons :

1) I like my privacy and security and I don’t live alone so I host from an incall (not where I live) .. It is also better because I also own a wonderful dog that I love very much and some of my clients would have to stop seeing me (allergies) if I would host at home.
Working from home is simply not an option that would make me feel comfortable.
So it means that I need to have ( internet , phone line ,Electricity, furniture , rent , ect .. JUST for my incall)

2) I advertise on the sites that brings me clientele. If after a while it doesn’t I simply stop advertising there. So if I included some platforms that you don’t agree with , to each their own but I don’t advertise there just for the sakes of it , I have a pretty good reason ;)

3) I can’t imagine sharing my incall with 2-3 providers because
-I am OCD (Cleaning and desinfecting is a MUST for me and I get very anal if someone’s messy in my incall)
(I love you for being awesomely clean like me Kimoraxox)

4) Sharing the incall with 2-3 providers

-This is called a spa and I am not owning a spa because it is not legal without a bodyrub licence.
-I can’t imagine hosting a client for a dinner date and having two other girls walking by with their naked clients .. That would not only be super awkward, but also a hazard for my client’s privacy.
-If you offer long appointments, dinner dates , movie dates ect .. You can’t have other people working there at the same time .. (Kim and I share our clientele and we respect eachother’s booking because it is easy at two , but more than two girls would be a shit show.
-We have an incall where the clients can walk around naked , feel like home and be assured they’ll NEVER meet an other clients.
-We can book two massage sessions with 15min gaps so they never meet because the sessions are in the rooms , but a diner date need to take the entire incall.
-I like to work with my partner in crime. I trust her , I get along with her , we are both not competitive , we share our clients , we have the same rates , same services , same restrictions , same rules. We offer interactive duos and we have been working together for over 4years without drama. That kind of arrangement is hard to find in the industry .. Almost impossible .. Don’t change what’s working ;)

5) Pictures

-I covered that in the new thread about it so I won’t repeat it here for everyone to be annoyed.
You are welcome guys ;)

Did I forgot something ?

Oh yes , sorry for my english I am french..
Merci Source pour ton petit bout de français. Ça me fait toujours aussi plaisir de lire du français ici. Surtout que c’est du contenu intelligent.. ;) xx

I worked with Quantum Physic Phd’s so I am used to exchange opinions when we don’t all agree ..
It’s a matter of listening to other’s point of view , Adjusting my point of view with new pertinent informations and sharing it in a way that you’ll get their attention without creating a defensive mechanism.

Germany is great to learn that type of positive communication.
They’re not so soft there. Here in Canada , people are very diplomatic.

If I listen , they will listen as well..
If I attack, they will as well.
To every action , comes a reaction ;)

I am far from perfect , I lose my nerves sometimes (like everybody else) , but I’m trying my best to remain calm ;)

Kisses

I think talking about cost and justifying this or that is useless.

You spend your money where you want it.

I would not go to a classy restaurant and tell them, hey you should share your order of meat/produce with your competition next door. It'll cut down cost.
Idealistic, no?
Partnership in business don't always work out well.

fyi. an incall is shared among oic members. each member can take a time slot. no chance of running to another client and provider.

you are not sharing or dining in the same dish or table.

Can you come up with one using mosquitoes instead?
What mosquitos? I barely noticed any in winter time.
Spring and summer there may be some.

Is it a two bedroom type location? Provider A in room A, provider B in room B type thing?

I'm sure there would be efficiency issues plus certain hours are usually more popular than others.
