All hotels will require you to book with valid ID. So your name will be needed. However, there are ways to pay cash and avoid a credit card charge.

Copycraigs can not stop a hotel from getting your license on check in. He can book you a cheap hotel, pre-paid on an auction bid with a pre-paid visa voucher that you can put any name on. The hotel room name however has to be a valid one that a hotel will cross check against a valid piece of ID.
