Wtih all the talk about HDTV I have been wondering how I can connect my pc to my tv since I want to be able to connect more voyeur cams in my apartment.

I have done some searchs on youtube. I am just trying to explore the best of doing it for me ,y HDTV has a VGA port the HdMI is used by the HD receiver from bell.

I am sure I would have to play around with it to get it set up the way I want it, but I am wondering who out there has set up their pcs on their HDTVs is it more enjoyable.

If you have a graphics card in your PC with DVI (or HDMI) you can hook it up to the HDMI port on the TV or if you just have the svga port you can use that to the TV.

If DVI->HDMI you just need the right cable for about $10-40 or so depending on the length.

If you only have one HDMI or DVI input on your TV, you could try S video or composit video to connect to your TV. Most TVs have both and your video card should have at least one of them as an additional output.

But this is all dependant on your video card having HD output capabilities. Not a lot do. Your video card will also need dual monitor capabilities....not all do.

What video card do you have in your pc?

Well my TV has the blue input I am not sure what it's called and S-video.

The computer I will have on the HDTV will be a brand new machine, most likely going to buy it from the store I got my tv from so they will make sure it has all the right parts to go on the computer they can build me a machine for about 400 bucks.

Just make sure you tell them what you want to do. Many cards aren't HDTV ready and if they don't put one in, you're toast.....

If you want me to check for you what inputs you have on your tv, let me know the make and model and I'll look it up for you.

Another thing I just thought of: make sure your TV is HD.....some flat panel displays aren't (depending on how old it is). It has to have 720 or above to be HD....

ok, it has 720 and 1080 so you're good with the HD (just remember you do need an HD source, are your cams HD?)

You have a VGA input so you can go with a standard signal from just about any video card.

If your cams are HD, then you have an HDMI input but if that is being used already you can either get and HD switcher, or use the composite inputs. If your new PC doesn't output to composite you can still use S video although I don't think you can put an HD signal through it, but I could be wrong. I know you can for certain through composite (plus you will get a better image through comp as opposed to s video).

The cams are standard webcams, I just want to show my members differnet angles of my apartment, Just a basic toweer hooked up to my PC , so when I am in my living rom my members can still peek on me when i am live and at home. the cams connect via the usb ports 1.0 and 2.0 extention cables, and usb hub powered hubs.

Once the pc is connected to the tv everything else is a breeze to set up for my website members.

OK, so you don't need an HD video card, the standard VGA hookup will be fine since your cams are low res.

Basically, whatever you see on your current monitor will be displayed on the Soyo. You still will need a video card that will support 2 monitors or 1 if you will only use the 32".
