China has really impressed me. They have been dominating the medals chart since day one.

You sound like an American.

No...just patriotic to our athletes, who recieve no funding to train full time. Instead our canadian athletes have to work regular jobs.

Other countries, their government pays them to train full time and their families are well looked after financially.

Some canadian athletes have to raise their own money to attend olympics.

So this is why its hard for canadians to get a medal. So when they do......i'm proud and want to congratulate them.

btw....yes, i'm part American by birth.:D

I am pretty sure it is actually American athletes that get no government funding. USOC relies entirely on charitable donations and corporate sponsorships.

My reading has $980,000 to support training 15 athletes. The rest of the money goes to medical, coaching , and administration. That's $65,000 per athlete which sounds good except this also has to cover all of their travel to meets, equipment etc. You can also be sure the tax man takes a cut.

I also notice that there is a 'donate' button on the site which means that the total may not just be government.

Of course that is 15 out of 277 athletes.

Bolt has 100m gold already
Goes for 200m tomorrow
Solid chance for gold in 4X100m relay

.......and now he's talking about also running the 4X400m relay

Could Usain Bolt get 4 gold medals by the end of the week?

Go Bolt Go !

I do not think NBC carried the race live even though they were on air with Olympic coverage.
I really want to see Bolt win again and have two other non-Americans come in second and third.

Bolt just has long legs.. he ain't fast in terms of reflexes. On the other hand, the silver medalist, Yohan Blake is fucking fast.. too bad he doesn't have daddy long legs
