You sound like an American. Not congratulating anyone unless they are canadian.
You sound like an American.
You might want to check your facts in that one, many do.No...just patriotic to our athletes, who recieve no funding to train full time. Instead our canadian athletes have to work regular jobs.
Other countries, their government pays them to train full time and their families are well looked after financially.
Some canadian athletes have to raise their own money to attend olympics.
So this is why its hard for canadians to get a medal. So when they do......i'm proud and want to congratulate them.
btw....yes, i'm part American by birth.
That is true and here's proof - http://ownthepodium.org/Funding/Summer-Sports/Athletics.aspxYou might want to check your facts in that one, many do.
I am pretty sure it is actually American athletes that get no government funding. USOC relies entirely on charitable donations and corporate sponsorships. You might want to check your facts in that one, many do.
My reading has $980,000 to support training 15 athletes. The rest of the money goes to medical, coaching , and administration. That's $65,000 per athlete which sounds good except this also has to cover all of their travel to meets, equipment etc. You can also be sure the tax man takes a cut. That is true and here's proof - http://ownthepodium.org/Funding/Summer-Sports/Athletics.aspx
