I need a home phone and bell has just increased its price
Wonder if anyone has used comwave or Ortega services.
Don't want a service that sounds like I am cooling from an echo chamber

Thanks

IMO a home phone these days is a waste if you're not at home for most of the day. Just use your mobile for everything.

Phone lines are either "copper wire" or digital that uses the internet and you'll need a box for it. Copper wire is the gold standard and you'll still have a phone line with a power blackout. Some people still have good quality with the internet too..
I use Primus.

I also require a home phone. I use Comwave and have no complaint with the quality. I have been with them for about a year now and have suffered through about 3 Internet outages of an hour or more. One lasted 24 hours. The phone of course was unavailable during this time.

I've used Fido Home Phone for a year or two now, used to be $10 /month (plus $40 upfront for the base station), now it's gone up a couple bucks. Sounds fine. Uses cellphone technology from the base station, and you can plug your cordless handsets into it.

I have Bell home phone .......it's under $30 bucks a month
And I have an alarm system wired to it and for some reason 911 in our area has to be wired directly and
Cannot use a voip account. To be connected to our local 911
So Bell it stays forever no changes allowed

I have ooma. Initial cost was about $100 if I recall correctly, plus 40 to port my old home phone number, but they throw in the premier service for a few months for free if you port. Now my monthly bill is $4.95, includes voice mail, caller id, cross Canada long distance, plus a couple other things... Quality is generally same as it was with cogeco, but cogeco charged $50/month! Occasionally get a little interference type of stutter sound, but it's rare. Overall I'm pretty happy only spending $5 a month!

I'm thinking about switching to these guys for internet, any updates, Bell went up again to 59$ and I think they have a 25 - 30$ per month option, worth a try.

I've found comwave good enough, I've been with them since I moved to Toronto for Internet. There have been a couple outages during that time but nothing frequent or major. I have their $75 tier for the unlimited bandwidth and although we don't get close to the speed they advertise- (does anyone ever?)- the speed is still good enough to support ll the traffic several computers can throw at it.

They have a 25$ option for 50g, I only have one computer, the outages I can deal with if they're not too frequent, can use my phone.

This is such misinformation
Unless you have some ancient rotary phone in your basement you have no service as soon as electricity stops going to the base
Even if handsets have fully charged battery
