Hi there, I'm looking to purchase another computer system as mine is going obsolete and was wondering if anyone knows where in the GTA is the best place to shop for a computer system?

I don't usually buy brand name computers as they are more expensive as well as places like Future Shop or Best Buy.

Where are the places with the best deals?

Thanks in advance

Prices at most generic computer stores are competitive and comparable. Since the profit margin is so small, the service and support is near non-existent everywhere. Even from the same store, you might get excellent service & support one day and none the next time. So let the price be the bottomline because you shouldn't expect too much service and support. Nowadays, even the support and Dell is not what it used to be.

Pick up a free copy of the HUB computer magazine and go through all the ads. Narrow it down to 3-4 store and call / visit them for a quote with your computer configuration. Talk to the salesperson. If the quotes are similar pick the computer store with the salesperson who are knowledgable and gives you good advices.

Good luck.

It's ok to buy at mega store if you know your ware and what you are getting.

For no name, there is this one in Scarb' which you may try:

http://www.amigosystems.com

Have bought systems from them for years, reliable people, great after sales service, and will match price from other store.

Give them a call, remember to tell them exactly what you need the new system for, i.e. net surfing, basic word processing, or intensive gaming...etc. so you won't get an overkill system for your needs.

Ask for Francis.

If you know what you want/need, build it your self. (or have it custom built. most little shops will do it for you) This way, you only pay for the components you want, not useless things like three months of AOL.

As stated previously Canadacomputers and pc village are good places if you know what exactly you are going for, customer service is nearly non existent., but they offer extremely competitive pricing. Be warned though, both places are run and staffed by people who are do not have the best english skills.

My reccommendation is Apluscomputers, I owe them big time from when i fried my CPU, they gave me a replacement no charge, BTW it was totally my fault I was a cheapass and used a CPU cooler meant for a machine half its speed.

If you buy from an independent shop either know exactly what you want or buy it from someone you trust. If you have no clue then buy from DELL. As stated previously prices from every place are very competitive. Most shops are lucky if they make 5%. No one will rip you off by selling you something that has an inflated price, but they may try to convince you to buy something that is overkill for what you need it for, which is why I say know what you want.
