I am a coffee freak.I’ve had coffee makers that cost 20 to 2000 and you wont believe this but i once found a coffee maker for 15 $ that had the best tasting coffee and my luck that machine was discontinued.
I’ll give you my cheap list of good coffee makers if you want to pay only 50 to 75 mr coffee at walmart or canadian tire makes a great tasting coffee that also has automatic shut off and programming .

you might think this sounds weird but i have discovered for my taste buds that i prefer the taste from a 5 cup machine over a 12 cup.

my latest buy is a FRUPS5 cup coffee maker and its much better than my black and decker 12 cup.If you like rich flavour that is.

So since i love trying new ones a couple times a year if you could tell me whats another great machine pricing is irrelevant but in my experiences ive had 15$ ones brrew better than a 200$ one so tastes buds vary.

Depends on preference of course, but the biggest bang for your buck is the beans, not the brewing method or machine.

That said, for more than a decade I’ve been enjoying an automated espresso machine, which with a push of a button will grind the beans and make your selection, including espresso, Canadiano, latte, cappuccino, afflagato, etc. One cup at a time, so never a stale coffee. Mine is a Jura ENA9, which I think is discontinued and replaced by a newer model, but it was one of the less expensive and more compact ones that takes up about the same counter space as a Cuisinart drip machine. Totally adjustable for many parameters like cup size, strength, grind, etc. There are other brands available as well, but I always look forward to coming back to this one when travelling because I have it tuned to my taste. Beware, these machines can be demanding though, always wanting something, like fill water tank, empty grounds, more grounds, clean (automated using special tablets), descale (automated using special tablets), water filter (or use filtered water). And these machines do not like oily beans, which gum them up. So if you like an oily bean, stay with a drip machine.

I have a single cup machine. I found the ones that have the glass carafe a real pain. I usually end up breaking the glass when washing it in the sink! I dunno which machine is the best, but I enjoy my single cup machine. The coffee tastes really good. Mine is a Hamilton Beach.

I hear ya about instant coffee. Used to live on the stuff (10+ cups a day) when I was in university and college because i couldn't afford to buy a proper coffee maker until my 3rd year when I was gifted a 4-cup coffee maker. Haven't gone back to instant since then.
My best coffee maker was a Melitta coffee maker (until it died a few years ago) where I could adjust the water flow setting to increase the strength of the coffee I brewed. Its replacement was my back up, an old Cuisinart coffee maker which almost makes coffee as good as the Melitta coffee maker. I'd have to research coffee makers before I have to buy again because quality isn't there anymore IMO.
Coffee brand, I prefer darker Columbian brands, makes a huge difference too. Full beans are the best but I'm not a fan of always grinding beans. And colder water left a few minutes to allow the chlorine to escape before brewing improves the flavour too.

I bought a DeLonghi Espresso machine (it does make other styles) about 8 years ago from Costco.

I was reluctant to spend $1,000. As such, in an effort to justify the purchase, I've tracked how many shots I've got.

At this point I've made about 1,800 shots of espresso. Once I get to 2,000 shots I will be at 50 cents per shot for the machine itself plus the cost of the coffee. I think that that's not too bad.

What does Starbucks charge per shot? $4.00?
