It would be a welcome shock - these socialist fuckers need to go suck on their own teats for a change. And rather Quebec than "The West" with all that beautiful, gorgeous oooiiiillll (and rodeos) ...

Well not quite, the Bloc in particular has done VERY well off the back of this. Harper clung to power by demonizing Quebec and stirring up hatred towards "separatists". That went over like a lead balloon in Quebec.

Canada's democracy has been diminished by a Prime Minister setting a precedent of dodging a motion of no confidence by suspending the legislature. Note that option is now available to ANY Prime Minister so if some day the Liberals dodge a Conservative no confidence measure by suspending the legislature for a very lengthy time don't complain.

Canada's future has been threatened too by Harper resorting to stirring up "Canada versus Quebec" rhetoric in order to cling to power--it wouldn't shock me if this contributes to a successful referendum in Quebec.

And, you think that you can trust Dion? He was once a separatist, before he joined or was concripted by Chretien and the Liberal Party. It took his doctoral studies to get him to realise his mistakes. But, he might have forgotten his federalism lately, especially if he has wanted to climb into bed with the sovereigntists/separatists or whatever you want to call them.
