TORONTO, Ont. - In the year 2015, Toronto and the surrounding area will host the Pan America Games.
About 10,000 athletes and coaches from 42 counties will come to our city, and the work to accommodate them has begun.
The CN Tower will be sporting special colours Sunday night. The building will light up with red, blue and green colours to mark the four year countdown to Toronto hosting the Pan Am Games.
"Four years will go by in a flash, we're working really hard that in 2015 this is an event that will make everyone very proud," said Ian troop, CEO of Toronto Pan AM Games.
Troop told 680News that the games will be the largest single sporting event ever held in Canada.
"[It will be] twice as big as Vancouver and bigger than Montreal in [19]76 and there is a lot of work involved to get these venues built and attract the best athletes."
Troop said they will be building or renovating 22 facilities across the Golden Horseshoe, including a new aquatic centre in Scarborough - leaving a lasting legacy.
