Hehe, I'm sure Kerry's handlers were not pleased.onthebottom said:Wow, he's really desperate for headlines. Now why didn't I hear that on NPR this morning ;-) , even the Lefts favorite Alpha Male supporting the President.

I would think there would be plenty of fat ankle interns at his library in AR to keep him busy.Drunken Master said:He's just trying to attract all the new Republican interns in the WH.
The wording 'Clinton defends Bush's push for war' is misleading. Clinton said he would have backed military intervention in Iraq if, and only if, UN weapon inspectors were allowed to finish their job and WMD were found to exist. Heck, I would have agreed then.djk said:

US pressure. Am I supposed to pat you on the back?onthebottom said:And, according to Hans Blix, why were UN inspectors allowed back in?

In the form of troops, and no that's the POTUS you should pat on the back. Now in this internationalist world why couldn't the UN get that done in 14 years?*d* said:US pressure. Am I supposed to pat you on the back?
Iraq was 95% free and clear of WMD by 1999 according to UN inspectors. And Iraq's no fly zone was under siege by the US for nearly all those 14 years of sanctions. So a UN/US team effort was working.onthebottom said:In the form of troops, and no that's the POTUS you should pat on the back. Then how would you explain:*d* said:Iraq was 95% free and clear of WMD by 1999 according to UN inspectors. And Iraq's no fly zone was under siege by the US for nearly all those 14 years of sanctions. So a UN/US team effort was working.
Hey, a new Kerry tag line!Drunken Master said:OMG - Democrats can be just as mistaken as Republicans!
RUN!
It proves the UN inspectors were on the right track and the US was wrong. The UN is obviously the better organization.onthebottom said:Then how would you explain:
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999
"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his
weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and
nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of an ilicit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
- Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and
chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven
impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
And one of my favorites:
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We
are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the
authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

Iraq was under the threat of US forces for nearly all of those 14 years. Not just in the final year. And 14 weeks to conquer a country that wasn't a threat after all, killing thousands in the process, is nothing to brag about. The real threat is what you have now, created by the war --increased terrorism in the region. I don't see much humour in that.onthebottom said:LOL
That has to be the funniest thing I've read in years. After 14 years they are hot on the trail and can only attempt to complete the job under the threat of US force. You have remarkably low standards. It took us less than 14 weeks to conquer the country for heavens sakes.

So a mere coincidence that they complied when the tanks showed up in Kuwait. Come on *d*, you're smarter than that.*d* said:Iraq was under the threat of US forces for nearly all of those 14 years. Not just in the final year.
Just that it didn't take 14 years. Killing thousands and saving thousands. I think it was you who first pointed me to the UN study that 35k children under the age of 10 were dieing every year. How may people died of torture under SH? No threat at all, tell that to the Iranians, Kurds and Kuwaitis.*d* said:

Neither do I. Perhaps the UN could stop it, give it 14 years, you never know.*d* said:
