I have a bit of an odd question... how many of you would be willing to let an SP bring some music of choice for the evening? It sounds a bit cliche, but some music immediately makes me feel more energetic and excited... I think it could add a LOT to any session. Please comment.

Thanks for your time,

It depends....

If a SP brought "Roxanne" (police) to play....I think it would be a mood killer

If she played "Closer" (NIN)....it might feel freaky

If she played "I wanna new drug" (Huey & news) while she sticks a thumb up my bum....it might put a new spin on the song

I bring my own music, New Age , burned onto mp3 discs, set to shuffle play so there's no particular order to the tracks.
Its not loud, but just soft music that you dont have to think about.
It may not be everyones taste , but it is just background music afterall.
mp3 discs are nice in that you dont have to get up to change discs since there'e 8 or more hours of music on each disc

Well I like all kinds of different music really, with the odd exception. Jazz is always nice.

I was curious to see if any hobbyists listened to anything in the more experimental or extreme vein (incl. breakcore, noise, dark ambient, power electronics) ... of course I wouldn't subject anyone to this unless they enjoyed it as well!

if it was up yer arse, you'd know.
I'm glad someone brought this up, I'd been toying with the idea of making a few mixed cd's myself to bring to appointments, just incase there's the opportunity and the need. Do most hotels have a cd player in the room? I've never noticed. It's just kinda lame when you're just relying on the radio and you're stuck with listening to Backstreet Boys or whatever their most recent pop-equivalent. Or that nauseating poppy/R&B crap with all kinds of "ooohooohoooooooh, girl you're everything to me, I'm gonna hold you forever, when we touch it's magic, I"m gonna love you all the time" formulaeic ca-ca. I find that stuff cheapens the mood. But of course, it's totally up to the client, and we'll hear whatever he's in the mood for. That's why I figured I might mix a bunch of different ones with different moods, one mostly soft and romantic, one mostly kinky and energetic (you know, with at least one or two Cramps songs on there, ya gotta have it), one really sexy and hot, one kinda dramatic....and they could take a look and take their pick.

But is that putting too much thought into it? Are most of you guys pretty much kinda like *shrugs shoulders* "I dunno, nice of you to do, but I really don't about the music right now....can we just get into bed?" ALso about tastes in music, mine is pretty wide, so I have a lot of stuff that I think has pretty neutral, wide appeal, but you never can tell who's gonna be turned off by what. What do y'all think?

I am waaay into music at sessions! When I do my hotel hosting thing, I bring a basic Sony portable cd player and a pair of Sony mini speakers. They'll run on batteries (get rechargeables) or you can buy an adaptor for the cd player.

I like to play stuff you are not likely to hear that often - create an oasis of 'not like my usual life', and music is a very important part of that, especially as hotel rooms can be pretty generic, no matter how many stars they have.

I usually play a burned cd of old torch-style stuff - Peggy Lee, Eartha Kitt ("Love for Sale" cracks me up every time) Etta James, Doris Day, Lena Horne, Shirley Bassey, etc..

Or, my new thing, Brazilian Samba music - it's great because it's rythymic and energizing, but everybody's singing in Portuguese so it's not distracting.

Bebel Gilberto, Zeca Pagodinho, and Bezerra Da Silva are a good bets if you are interested.

All of the preferred music so far mentioned is all way too serious for me. I think that I would be absolutely shocked if I found myself b**ging to James Taylor. Don't get me wrong, I like James Taylor but I also like my aunt Vera. Somes things IMHO should not mix.

I think that if your going to have music playing it should be sexy music serious and humourous. Serious D'angleo, Johnny Gill and Toni Braxton. On the humorous side anything that's unexpected. I once saw an SP who put on the William Tell Overture. It just floored me and completely broke the ice. It gave me the invitation to seduce her with my sense of humour (gag), but it was the best session ever.

Music in this case was such a powerful steering force.

I think the important thing to remember that there are two parties involved and the SP's and hobbiest's should be aware of this. One woman's Lena Horne is another man's instant downer. Once again I think Lena Horne is a genius for the way she could illicit listeners' emotions through her songs, but are they the right emotions during a session.

I also like to have sex to Budda Bar. If you time it right so that you climax at 2:05 of Track 6 on their first CD you can open a door to a different Universe

I always liked that tune. Marley is sooooo
smooth. That Carib beat is fine with me.
Maybe not appropriate all the time, but
a damn good tune. I've got a half-dozen
Marley, totally authentic. Sad that he passed
on so young.
No woman no cry would be perfect if the SP was a She-male

music is good for the soul.
