Totally agree with you. We need to protest Torontos interest and not let the subs live off our glory.
While I agree in part. It’s only in small part.

The province is what now. 360 billion in debt? Without getting all pissy, about this or that. Or what amounts to shell games. Can we agree on infrastructure?

Things like hospitals, 400 series, welland canals, massive hydro grids and Nuke plants, an airport, corporate tax breaks. All the things that attract companies to locate in Toronto? To pay corporate taxes, to pay employees good or big money, to spend in the gta, doing the same…

Thanks, everyone every tax payer of Ontario.

Funny thing is our salaries have not gone up. But the politicians and business profits have increased. The power gets richer and we are sent to a lower middle class level. Soon only the rich and corporations will be able to buy homes in Toronto.
yep. Especially if it continues on the same trend lines, it has for the last 30-40 years.

Addressing what issues?
Budget deficit: Raise taxes, Shame the provincial and Federal government to give more. The real ignored issue: frivolous and wasted spending.
Crime: Defund LE, more social workers. Seriously???
Congestion: Tear down the Gardiner
Frivolous and Wasted spending? So where exactly do you think Toronto can cut $1.5 Billion dollars from easily?

Ford tried cutting spending with Bill 124 and we see where that got us. BTW: I think nurses deserve every cent they get.

Any attempt to cut wages will be fought tooth and nail and the liberal courts will rule any attempt to reduce wage costs as unconstitutional.

Defund the police, eh? Do you live in a gated community and never wander out into the wilderness?

Bill 124
Ford legislating pay increases. Wrong on many levels. It’s impossible to bargain, when it’s legislated.

1%
An attempt to reduce spending during
-low inflationary time ( under 2%)
-After McWynne threw tons of money at all kinds of things. And some…..not all…..public servants. What we think EAs, ECEs, PSWs for example got lavish raises?
-during times when we are in a deep hole as a result, with major problems. Including critically short staffing levels in many areas.

-following what Don Drummond told everyone was needed. and most just ignored.

hold spending AND raise revenue.
Neither of which has been done.

Ford wouldn't pay nurses then gave cops a 20% raise through the same time.
Then he went and spend $300 million on nurses hired through agencies, way more expensive for the province.

Ford also cut minimum wage increases and rent control.

As clueless as Chairman Chow may be, she really cannot fix the problems Tru-dolt has burdened our country with: A dysfunctional judiciary, A so called harm reduction program for drug use, waves of immigration with no where to house them..
Trudeau?!.....

He created the housing crisis?

You know that Duggo is in charge of housing and provincial stuff, huh? Why aren't you blaming Duggo?..... Oh I know. Because you love the Tories.

Well for starters, stop thinking about renaming streets. The names don't hurt anyone. If they have money for that, they have money to bail themselves out.
Charge more for TTC.
How many people that work in city hall are actually needed?
Increase permits fees for road closures due to condo construction and parades.
Increase hotel tax.
Reinstate property tax on music venues. Covid is over.
Charge more for arena/soccer field times.
Well, I actually sort of agree in part. Half the major streets downtown are closed right now, so the city can cut traffic lanes and build special bike lanes. Where's THAT money coming from?

Sure, but compare that to closures from metrolinx and general construction.
Its not like you can blame lakeshore on bike lanes or queen at yonge.

But it is a total mess.

The only solution is more taxes, unfortunately.
I have lived outside of Toronto for about 30 years and noticed that, for the same valued houses, property taxes were far less for Toronto houses than, for example Durham Region homes. Metro Toronto residents had it far better than neighbouring communities for a very long time, and with better services.

The municipality of Toronto determines the mill rate for land taxes. The municipality of Toronto has the lowest mill rate in the province. Dollar for dollar, residents pay the least amount in land taxes, yet arguable enjoy the most services.
quoted for truth!
I am always amazed at how little GTA owners pay compared to what I pay.

IF we want to be honest. They are both to blame not helping. And we would most certainly need include McWynne.

who sets monetary policy. That would be the bank of Canada. Their job is to try and keep inflation within a band. Why do they raise or lower rates? To influence spending. Lower rates encourage spending and growth in gdp.
higher rates curb spending.

Who has flooded the monetary system with excess money? That would be JT. Who has flooded Canada with excess buying demand? Immigrantion. That would be JT. We could also look at trying to create jobs somewhere other than the GTA. So the bank has to raise rates, and inflation is increasing the cost of materials and labor…..and rates are…pretty straight forward.

Ford.
Municipalities decide, what and when and where. What can he do? Not much. If he doesn’t borrow more money ( deficits) he’s taking money from some other part of the budget. He is handcuffed. He has continued to spend. Likewise adding money to the system. He has a “plan” to build 1 million units in 10 years. We are ready short more than that.

Wynne/McGuinty.
See above but way more given the provinces revenue (gdp)…. They also in buying votes, watched manufacturing and small town Ontario whither on the vine. Putting all kinds of people out work. Who, looked towards the GTA…they also “tried to create jobs in green energy” that never materialized…….She also tried to legislate that municipalities build up, before building out.

You want to seize and nit pick over one wee bone? Given all your brain farts, cluelessness and more. The rest?????

by the way, I haven’t seen a credible source for 10% other than tweeter, Twitter. What’s the matter, can’t Google one?

Question.
Let’s see if you can putt it together. Why do Torontonians need 200 golf courses takimg up oh so much precious land… and speaking of golf and handicaps. I’ll give you one, a freebie. That’s generally what we do when someone….

But you might want to read some of these without falling asleep before page 2.
