Cincinnatti

I'm going to Cincinnatti for a couple nights and don't know much about the city. Anyone with have any recommendations for restaurants, shopping, or any must see places?
I won't have a lot of time to tour around but will have about half a day free and want to maximize my time.

As far as restaurants, I'm hoping to find one nice place where you'd take a business client fairly central to the downtown (comparable to Canoe, JK, Jump, KI, etc.) and something where I can have a nice relaxing lunch (good food, casual atmosphere).

Finally is there any nightlife or am I better to relax in the hotel and save my $.
Thanks!

...worthwhile in Cincy.

Put it like this...when I used to go there for business, I'd hang out at the hotel bar for entertainment.

There is a couple DECENT restaurants though...let me do some research to stir up my memory and get back to you...

LOL! That's what I suspected, I actually think we are spoiled here in TO, at least when it comes to variety in food and entertainment.
It's much appreciated if you find any info on the restaurants. I'm a wine bar/lounge kind of person anyway (as opposed to clubs) so I'm happy to kill a night at a good restaurant.

Cincy is redneck central.....whatever you find will be on Vine Street. I think there was a decent middle eastern place near Millenium hotel.

I don't think there's anything there that compares to Ki or Canoe.

Here
Cincy is not that bad. There are some good restaurants downtown that will be quite busy depending upon the night, and if you go just across the river to the Kentucky side, the whole waterfront area is developed with bars and restaurants. Most of them have riverfront patios and its nice to sit with friends over a few cocktails.

PM if you need specifics.

I hear they have a baseball team (the Redlegs) with a future Hall of Famer name Ken Griffey Junior.

i've only been to the airport on a layover to transfer planes

sounds to me like a nuts-and-bolts town, just eat, work, and sleep

so, seems to me the best course of action would be to stay in the hotel and save money for future trips elsewhere

don't order the overpriced hotel food, step out to the local mcdonalds or other fast food

I went for a weekend, for the UFC there. There was also a Bengals game on, but we did not go to that. I stayed at the Hilton, it was nice. Downtown seemed pretty small, and it shut down pretty early.

 McDonalds! I haven't eaten at a McDonalds at least 15 years, Cincinnatti will not break me!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I know it's not NYC in regards to the culinary choices but I plan to make the best of it. =)

Go to Kentucky. Get the chili. THey seem to be proud of it there. Nothing much else.

I used to go there a lot, stayed at the Westin. There are some good restaurants in a neighbourhood called Mt. Adams, about 2 miles east of downtown, on the Ohio side. But my favourite meal was a hot dog and a beer at a Reds game.

I agree. Going to a ball game is like going to the Opera, for men. I'd get a chili dog though.

Have a safe trip.

LOL! Never thought to check Cincinnatti Opera, but thanks for the idea; could pass on the ball game. Tickets are really inexpensive there but of course I'll be missing La Traviata by less than a week. :(
