True..but they are winning.

When i hear large multinational's complain about stuff like this, I have to wonder if they think we really believe they got their status and power through the purest of business practices......

They won't stop it, that's the problem, simply because they don't care about any international patent laws.
All they'll do is set up shop somewhere else.

Bloor and Sleazy
When Western companies squeeze out competitors and then buy them out for a fraction of their real value, we call it capitalism. The Chinese are just skipping a couple of steps and, in the process, not bankrupting their competition to get there. The customers at these places know they're buying knock-offs so the premium brand is not being devalued in any way. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, after all and it probably makes these brands look good that people are trying to copy them.

I say it's no big deal.

Authentic name, brand luxury goods are highly coveted status symbols in China. These knock offs satisfy the wannabes, but the the buyers know that they are fakes. Demand for the real thing still exists and is strong.

As it stands right now, China basically owns our asses, or at least the asses of our largest trading partner. I suspect we'll be wearing Naiks, talking into an iPhony and eating McMini's in a matter of months, and damned well like it.
the chinese own about 8% of US government bonds...not quite their entire ass.

And they won't dump them...because that would be throwing away money.

I wonder if in the USA and Canada there were fake knock offs of such luxury brands like Gucci and Coach bags... would we buy them?

Frikkin' right we do! So we are no better than them if we buy them.

I wonder how many of us would buy black market iPhones if they were exact knock offs? Exact Nike shoes ? Knock off Mercedes even?

The only difference is that they have no laws to prevent it. We do. And they don't understand that if there is no IP protection, then there will be no innovation and nothing to build and nothing to knock off
Agreed. China does not understand is that a cornerstone of capitalism is the protection of private property.

take jobs away from the people that buy the shit and sell those jobs to people that have shown over and over that they have no conscience, then get shocked when they do less than favourable business practice. now the people you sold your jobs to own most of your country because they have all the jobs and work and money and you have nothing cuz you sold all your jobs off.

vicious circle for the u.s owned companies. tried to save a penny and turned around and fucked themselves over.

tell that to the people in florida who had their homes stolen and sold by predatory real estate weasels and banks who capitalized on the fact that they missed a payment or two.....i believe the cornerstone of u.s. capitalism is make as much cash as you can without regard for whoever gets hurt.

Why can't the chinese be morally upstanding, like AIG, Monsanto or General Dynamics? HA HA!!
