It's been a murderous and repressive regime since day 1. The warning signs have always been there, long before HongKong and Xinjiang.
The West chose to ignore and forget the repression of Tibetans and Mongolians and the massacre of students at Tiananmen, the total censorship, the facial recognition

To say that other countries have historical issues is fair, and accurate, but doesn't excuse what is going on in China *right now*. Don't invest in Chinese stocks or etf's.
The country is not investable anyway.
Try not to buy their products. It's easier than you think if you spend time looking around.
Dollar store shit is unavoidable but it's not much money anyway.
I'm talking about stuff that's over say 200 bucks. I have now been doing this since covid hit and have been surprised how easy it has been to find products not made in China.
Lots of products made in Mexico, Vietnam, U.S., India, Japan, etc.
