Cheap tires

No. Anyone trying to sell you this is taking you for advantage. Unless you hit a huge pot hole you don't need an alignment.
While new tires do not cause the need for wheel alignment, it is wise to look at the old tires to see if they are wearing evenly. If they are not, you need wheel alignment. Smaller incidents than huge potholes can have a cumulative effect and cause misalignment.

If a tire starts to wear unevenly from the start, it will always wear unevenly until it wears out. IE, once a tire starts wearing abnormally you cannot stop it, only possibly slow it's progress.

For new tires, Tires23 and Simplytires can't be beat.
Why do people always recommend simply tire? What's so good about that place? Their prices aren't any better than Green and Ross or even Kal tire. I contacted them a few weeks ago for a quote on winter tires and rims, and their price was 300 more than Kal. For the same tires and sensors.

I wonder the same thing, during the busy season you can't even speak to them on the phone, but during off season when I checked their prices they were slightly higher than other independent stores.

Where's the cheapest place now to get new tires put on a car?
Are you looking for winter or all season tires?

Kijiji. otherwise...there is no such thing as cheap new tires....specially if you're looking for winter tires prelude to the season..I got a set of winter tires with rims from kijiji for $250...I bought it first week of august.
I picked up a 1 year old set of Blizzaks on steels rims for my wife's car I found on Kijiji. The guy bought a new car, same make and model as his last one but they changed the bolt pattern, so they no longer fit his car. They were basically like new and I also got them for $250.

Some people are greatly aversed to buying used. They only marry virgins.

I always have bought my used tires for winter. Saving good $.
Hmmmmmm

You do realize that even tires with low mileage are no longer viable after 7 years of age and should be replaced because the rubber hardens and the tires (especially winter tires) no longer are pliable.

You always need to check the date of manufacturing stamped into the rubber at the bead.

Even when buying new I tell the vender to make sure that the tires have been manufactured within the last 6 months and I will be checking that myself before paying. (That usually gets their attention. )

Buying used tires can end up being a mistake.

And despite what others have said in this thread, I maintain that there is no such thing as a tire sale and you can drive all over hell's half acre if you want but the price you get will be not that much different than anywhere else.

I always check the dealer, especially for winter tires because they will use OEM steel wheels and have the OEM tire pressure sensors. The local shops tend to use the cheapest chinese steel wheels they can find and their tire pressure sensors (unless you ask for OEM) are after markets. Neither is desirable in my book. I have found the best "deal" at the dealership on several occasions and by that I mean about the same as any local tire shop with the added bonus of OEM parts.

I wonder why people keep recommending Costco their tires are a rip off

Incl. tax and installation
Costco $675
Tire Depot $485

TD is still the leader and their lower priced tires are as good quality

Could depend on the tires. I didn't need Goodyears or Michelins, Hankooks were good enough for me. Paid with cash and they knocked off a few more bucks.
