Can cats sense a person's nature?, that is can they tell if a person is good or evil?

I think they can sense if somebody likes them. I have several times experienced a cat going out of his/her way to annoy somebody that does not like cats.

When I was a boy I was a dog person as all young boys are. One day a very nice and clean looking cat came into our yard and stayed for a few days. It seemed to be very comfortable walking around the yard and had no place to go, so we made it our inside cat. The cat looked about 3 months old and probably was born into a liter of cats that lived not too far away. She adopted us and was a member of the household for 21 years. I have one kitty now and is my silent guardian and companion. I have a friend with benefits that has three cats. For about 3 years one cat would come to play with me for about half an hour and then I would get nipped, scratched or kicked by him, every occasion I visited. It took a while for us to figure out that he was jealous. He would come and claim me first to get the attention. After a while one of the other two cats would come along for a chin or belly scratch, that is when the dominant cat would nip, scratch or bunny buck me. Now I have to watch that he does not see me giving attention to any other cat in the house and he does not terrorize me. He still continues to do one thing that is very inconvenient. Sometimes when I am getting a benefit from my friend, her cat would come along and throw himself up against her bedroom door and grab the French door handle and pull it down to open the door. He makes a Whamm noise and the door swings open with a cat hanging on to the handle. Most of the time it is just him, but other times there is a herd of three cats barging in and hopping on the bed at a inconvenient time. Cats are very cognizant of your feelings and thoughts.

I am posting from the airport. When my cat saw me with a suitcase, he got royally pissed. He hates it if we are not all with him.

Sorry for your loss. We had the most wonderful cat who lived to be 17. He died a couple years ago and yes, it was really hard saying good bye. The best thing you can do is give another kitty a good home. That's what we did. You'll be much happier, trust me. :)

What's also amazing is how many traits domestic cats share with their larger, wild counterparts. Anyone who's had cats knows how much they love boxes. Check out these cats.

Truly saddened to read this.........I am so sorry for all your losses.

Pets become such an important part of our lives. Too bad we outlive them.....
I dunno, it would suck if we only lived to 15-20. ;)

After your cat leaves you, for years you will think that if you just walked into the next room you will see them curled up sleeping on your bed or sofa. If you get a new cat you will think that it is the former cat come back in a younger form.

Always have liked cats and have one or more around. Sadly my favorite cat Bear (beautiful tortoiseshell) died a few months ago, we still have her mom Gizmo (calico). My wife always let me pick the cat's names until Callie ..... Callie the calico, how stupid. I wanted to call her Spaz.

Bear liked to think she could talk to me, my wife said she was quiet as a mouse all day. When she would hear my car in the driveway she would wait for me at the front door. As soon as I got in she would start jabbering. I would jabber back at her and we would have a "conversation" every day. I'd give anything to know what the hell she was saying, or trying to say. She would jump up on me, sleep on me and follow me around like a puppy.

One thing almost all our cats do is cry at the bathroom door. If you let your cat in while seated on the toilet they love to jump up and interrupt your business so I close the door to keep them out. So they (only one at a time it seems if you have multiple cats) sit at the door crying. Doesn't matter that Bear was used to it since a kitten and knew the door would close, she still felt the need to cry until I came out. My bathroom exhaust fan got noisy but I delayed replacing it because it drowned out the cats crying.

Gizmo would protest every time we went away for more than a couple days. When we came back she would hide from my wife for several days to repay her for leaving. For some reason she did not do this to me for more than a couple hours, she would show up and say hi after a bit. After a few years of this I decided to pick her up and take her to my wife to avoid the silly game. It worked, if I did that she would stop hiding and all would be well. As she is getting older she does not play the hiding game as much anymore.

Callie (calico ... stupid name my wife won't let me change, I call her Shithead) is the newest cat, my wife got her when I was away for work a couple years ago. Never really liked her much but she seems to love me. Bear used to sleep on my hip every night so Callie would lay on my legs. Very uncomfortable. I would kick her off and she would come back and lay beside my legs. Since Bear is gone she has taken the main hip sleeping zone but will not just sleep there until I move like Bear did. She has to keep moving around and jumping down, then jumping back up to wake me up. Been months since I had a good sleep, was gonna close the door to keep her out but then she and Gizmo will be howling at the door. She's growing on me lol

^^ I think that Callie is a cute name for a Calico. I love Calicos! I think that they are almost always female.(?) I believe that the rare male calico is sterile.

The majority of Calico cats are female and the majority of orange or tan cats are male, but it is not impossible to have a male Calico or tan female. Most white cats with blue eyes are deaf, but not all.

GTA & Thereabouts...
I have to admit, that my rescued cat has helped me get over some germaphobia issues. I care more for the cat than I do that phobia.

I have had cats most of my life.

I had to put my last one down about 1.5 years ago now. Hurt me so much to do it that I haven't gone to the shelter to adopt a new one. Think about it every day though.

2 of my cats were diabetics. Had to give then insulin shots twice a day. No problem though. They championed through it. I find them fascinating as animals. Was a dog person growing up but my first wife convinced me on getting a cat when I was 19 and after that I was all in.

Took in 2 strays over the years too. I would have to say the strays were the best of all the animals I have had over the years. One cost me over 1k to to fix up. He was on deaths door when he literally came to my back door. The vet figured he had maybe a week left in him. He turned out to be the best I ever lived with. He used to meet me at the door as soon as I came home and would guard me wherever I was in the house. Perhaps the best thing about him was that he loved women so much. Every girlfriend always raved how cool and affectionate he was. You could hear him purring from the next room. He just loved going to the cottage and even the long car rides. Sadly I had to put him down after he had a stroke but he lived quite the life.

Animals are a blessing. You are probably a super decent fellow because animals are great at revealing character in others.

Same with Tortoise.
I had two turtles when I was a kid. Those little red-eared ones they have at every pet store. One was nice and allowed you to handle it, but the other was a huge dick and would attack anything it could get at. It’d even try to bite your finger through the glass. Well, one day, I found the nice one’s shell floating in the tank. The other one had eaten the rest of it. It wasn’t underfed or anything, just did it for the hell of it, seemingly.

That mean little bastard eventually got HUGE. Like, unbelievably so. It outgrew two tanks. The guy at the pet shop didn’t believe me when I told him how big this thing was. He insisted that these turtles can’t get very big. This thing got to near-dinner plate size. Eventually, it got so big that we wound up releasing it in a swamp. There simply wasn’t space in my room for a tank big enough for it anymore. Kinda wonder if it’s still out there somewhere. Not sure how long those kinds of turtles live, I know some sea turtles can live hundreds of years, kind of doubt these get that old. I kinda feel like this guy might’ve been simply too pissed off to die.

Just read that snapping turtles can live in captivity for 47 years. So don't what that would mean in the wild.

Might still be around.

Yeah, could very well be. Not a ton that eats turtles once they get to a certain size either, especially around here given that we don’t have gators. Dude’s pretty much at the top of the food chain here. Who knows? Could still be swimming around kicking ass and being an ornery old prick.
