Cat or Dog?

Pros and Cons to both, I’ve had both.
Things Cats can’t do.
Save your life, a child’s life.
Lead the blind
Keep seniors company ( though possible I suppose)
Scare intruders, alert us to this and that.
Open doors on their own
Serve the military or police.
Find survivors or cadavers
help hunt birds/animals
Herd cattle/sheep
etc and so on.
There’s a misconception that cats are smart/smarter.
Beg to differ

My brother figured out the folding doors I used to keep him from the basement when he stayed over for a few weeks. Persistent bugger.
And cats can provide companionship, hell whenever my brother's feline overlords come over after a few days of "OMG who is going to feed me" it's "Oh that fat fuck is feeding us" and they follow me non stop everywhere I go [thus the folding door issue.

how many cats you see sniffing out drugs/explosives/more..
Re seniors and therapy dogs ( pets). Again not exactly known for it.but

Ever seen terriers in action? But not something dogs are really known for.
Amazes me sometimes what people will “argue”…would love to see a cat do this.
How many adults/children have they saved drowning..

Cats can open doors on their own. I have a female friend that has three cats. One cat is very attached to me and would run up to me if he heard my voice, He would want to be held like a baby all the time. If I try to put him down he would bunny kick me with his rear feet. When his mistress and I would do the deed we would have to close the door on him to keep him from distracting us by rubbing up on us.
He figured out how to open door. He would take a running jump at the door handle and pull the lever down as he hit the door. We would hear a thud and the door would swing open with a bang when the door hit the wall and he would drop off the door and trot on over.
And there are dogs that us litters, some actually trained to use and flush toilets. How many cats have you seen open fridge doors, grab cold ones..

dogs are highly intelligent and trainable. Cats not so much. Then there is the physical size. Ever seen a cat save a child from coyotes?

Omg, lol.
Cats lovers can be the worst.
That must explain why it might the only place the world where AF and LEO use them. So popular they are…would love to see one of their cats save it’s handler from a knife, gun wielding bad guy
I might also suggest,cats are so smart, so trainable. That’s why for hundreds of years they have been specifically bred for things like guarding junk yards, hunting rabbits, herding and protecting livestock, etc etc etc etc..

I don't go outside in shitty weather either to walk my dogs, I have a yard to let them to do their thing.
Generally speaking, a housecat isn't big enough to kill a human adult outright. They can carry disease though, so feral cat bites and scratches should always be checked out by a physician.
Barking is communication. Lassie barked because little Billy was in trouble, had help sent and saved the day. The cat would let little Billy die.
Yes Dogs are better.
Intimidated by little Fido? Get over it already.
