Hello fellow hobbyists. I got an email from the legendary Cassandra Cox asking for donations to help her out through a tough situation (the email explains in detail). Just wondering if anyone else got the same email and whether anyone knows if it's really her or if her email has been hacked or something. Thanks!

The newest phishing scams are have very believable and plausible heartrending stories. They don't have the tells of spelling mistakes and bad English anymore.

If you've seen her before on a regular basis, contact her directly about the email to confirm it's legit, otherwise ignore. If she says it wasn't her, then strongly suggest she get a new email - and let you know what it is - because she was hacked.

I’m sure you know this but If you do meet with her and decide to give her cash. Treat it as if you were throwing it down on the craps table and be prepared to just treat it as money spent.
I’m sure she’s very cool and probably would repay anyone that lent her money. I’d just go in resolved that I’m not expecting it back, so as not to be disappointed, or super happy that you helped and she was able to pay it back.
Like gambling, only bet as much as you can afford to lose.
