Thevagabond is correct - federal cheques do not go stale-dated. Svtcobra: the gov't will not pay you interest on your $10. It was issued to you on time, it was your choice not to cash it.I have a cheque from back in the day for 10 bucks. I wonder what the interests will be on that, I think it is like 15yrs old. I highly doubt that we will ever get the interest which has accumulated on that $10.00
Just some extra info if you have problems cashing it.A cheque from the federal government does not go stale.
I was being sarcastic with my comment. I know they will not do that, for $10.00 I just left it in income tax folder for that year lol...Thevagabond is correct - federal cheques do not go stale-dated. What about the tax I'm forced to pay that I get back at tax return time? Theoretically they are holding my money against my will, then paying it back to me at 0% interest a year later.Thevagabond is correct - federal cheques do not go stale-dated. I rather expected you were not being serious... however there are many out there who would have taken that as a serious question and called CRA to question it so I thought it prudent to post an answer.I was being sarcastic with my comment. Or even better... if the cashier refuses to acknowledge that Gov't of Canada checks don't staledate, ask for the manager and if they argue have them call CRA and let them tell the bank the facts.Just some extra info if you have problems cashing it.

That is true... lobby your politician to change the Income Tax Act.What about the tax I'm forced to pay that I get back at tax return time? Theoretically they are holding my money against my will, then paying it back to me at 0% interest a year later.
